Cliff, being a man of science, is busily working on a method of returning home.

But he also has a side project he tinkers with whenever he's not working on that, and today seems as good a day as any to give the thing a proper field test!

A young man of no real consequence is making dinner when he spots a girl. She's in the rain. She's soaked, she's miserable and she's the most forlorn thing he thinks he's probably ever seen. Overcome with a surge of pity like nothing he's ever felt before he invites her in to dry off. She eats his dinner, and things progress from there.

The local human, finding himself possessed of strength beyond measure in this strange world, decides to be a brutish nuisance. You know, running around half-naked, stealing cider and that sort of thing.

When his behaviour lands him in jail he casually breaks out and - more on a whim than anything else - breaks out the other jailbird too. Because that's mischief, and she had to have done something wrong, right?

They then run from Twilight, sit around a fire and sleep in a cave.
