Applebloom is awoken at night by a loud sound and sees Applejack running into the trees of their farm. When Applebloom decides to sneak out and follow her sister, she nearly loses her life in the process and nurses a wounded Applejack. What occurs afterwards is a realization that brings the two siblings closer together as Applebloom begins to ask questions pertaining to death.

Never give in when family is counting on you.

Losing a family member is never easy but Applejack makes it look like it. However, her friends and family can see through the facade and it takes something special for the cow pony to open up.

Applebloom has always remembered her family just as it is, her two siblings and her grandmother. She never got to meet her parents, but feels resentful that Applejack bosses her around like she was her mother. She runs off and finds a peice of Applejack's past, and is confronted with the disturbing similarities and problems she shares with her sister.

Everypony has secrets, and Applejack is no different. Apple Bloom's looking for answers only her older sister can give, but Applejack doesn't want to talk. If her secrets came to light, she fears they could crush the filly who looks up to her with nothing short of admiration.

Applejack sits in the barn at Sweet Apple Acres on a clear sunny day. A gust of wind blows through the barn, knocking over her hat. As she goes to pick it up, she thinks back to how she got her hat. She thinks back on its significance, and how much it reminded her of her Pa.

Applejack is the most hard-working and honest pony in all of Ponyville. But no one ever considered the possibility of her making a mistake. Especially one who is most close to her.
