After having become friends the five Shadowbolts from Crystal Prep Academy spent their first Friday night together. However, the distinct personalities of Sour Sweet, Sugarcoat, Indigo Zap, Lemon Zest and Sunny Flare make it hard to find common ground. In the end, they can only decide on something none of them is really eager to do: Play a table top role-playing game. At first the prospect of spending their Friday night with nerd stuff in a gloomy basement doesn't excite them very much. But the deeper they dive into the adventure, the more intrigued the nerdy game seems to catch their interest...

*Taking place during and after the events of Legend of Everfree*

A month has passed since the Friendship Games. Old stigmas are finally breaking down at Crystal Prep but Sunny Flare isn't convinced that these current events are natural. Naturally, she decides to investigate herself.
But upon certain discoveries that she and eventually the rest of her friends uproot, they realize they may have bit off more than they could chew. However, they do happen to know two people who they consider "magical experts".

Equestria...a land of magic and mystery. Connected to the human world through a magical portal outside of Canterlot High School. To some, it is home. To others, a strange, bizarre place of unknown rules and knowledge, just waiting to be discovered, codified, and understood.

And, to a few, a cool place to spend an afternoon.

The Crystal Prep Shadowbolts have come to visit Equestria, with the help of Discord. This SHOULD be a fantastic adventure in another universe, but given The Shadowbolt's track record, it's way more likely to be a snarky disaster than anything else. Hopefully, most of Equestria is still standing when they're done.

It’s been a month since Principal Cinch was fired from Crystal Prep Academy, and things are looking bleak. In her absence, the school has split into two factions: the Defectors, a bunch of thugs who will fight for Cinch’s return by any means necessary; and the Changelings, enforcers for the newly appointed Principal Chrysalis. As insults, threats, and even fists fly between the two groups, it seems like Crystal Prep is ready to become a battleground.

Only the Shadowbolts, who witnessed the magic of friendship first hand, are willing to stand up to either group. But with tensions growing and more and more students getting hurt, can the Shadowbolts save their school and transform it into the utopia they know it can be? Or is Crystal Prep doomed to fall back into hatred and cruelty?
