Something strange linking with Rainbow Dash's disappearance begins to happen to the heroes

Set a number of years after the events of show canon, in a slightly darker reimagining of the show's Equestria, this fanfiction follows the story of one young mare tasked with taking on the role of Equestria's greatest hero: The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. This fanfic is a dark but (hopefully) entertaining, comicbook-like delve into the life of a superhero in Equestria. Feedback is greatly appreciated, although please bear in mind that this is my first foray into fanfic-writing, so I'm still an amateur at present.

Maretropolis is a city like no other in Equestria. It is filled with various people from all walks of life. Equines, Gryphons, Minotaur's, even humans from Earth. The city is a shining example of how diversity, culture, and civilization can come together and thrive in one of Equestria's finest cities. However, with every great city, there is also a equal amount of criminals as well.

Maretropolis, despite its grandeur, is also home to vicious criminals, insane killers, and ruthless monsters. The Power Ponies, who the city so deserves, are the heroes who fight these villains and they are brought to justice for their crimes. Even so, their work inspires others to do the same and to follow in their footsteps to fight those who would undo order. The Mare Do Well, is one such heroine who seeks justice, and is not afraid to take any challenge.

When Discord escapes from Dysart Asylum on Hearth's Warming Eve, it's up to Mare-Do-Well and Draco the Dragon Wonder to stop him and save the holiday. Based off of the "Christmas with the Joker" episode of Batman: The Animated Series.

Sunset Shimmer, the protege of Princess Twilight, originally planned to wear her mentor's old Mare-Do-Well costume to a Nightmare Night party. A near-disaster that evening drove her to keep it, taking up the role of Equestria's newest hero.

Takes place after Season 4 in an alternate timeline where the Equestria Girls series and The Cutie Map, and as a result the map episodes of Season 5, never happened.

It is Hearth's Warming Eve in Ponyville, and the town is celebrating. Sunset Shimmer is at a party with her friends when she spots a suspicious figure leaping across the rooftops of Ponyville. Donning her Mare-Do-Well costume, she goes out to investigate, but not before Rarity offers to give the heroine a festive makeover for the occasion.

A one-shot companion story to "Sunset Shimmer: The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well." Reading the original story can give insight as to how Sunset arrived in Ponyville and became the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well; however, since this one-shot doesn't contain spoilers for the main plotline, it is not required.

1000 years ago the valiant and most holy god, lord Ahuizotl, vanquished the tyrant Nightmare Moon and the pony scourge of her 1000 armies of Equestria and delivered Equus from the eternal darkness. In his infinite generosity he saw fit to give Equus the light of the sun and to come down from his celestial throne to establish his most divine Empire of Talicon, to spread peace and order throughout Equus. His chosen people, the Felis, were returned to their rightful place as peacekeepers of the realm. In his infinite mercy he allowed the Gryphons, Minotaurs, and even the sinners, the unworthy ponies, their place in his utopia.

1000 years have passed since. The blighted, cursed ponies, the bringers of calamity, continue to live with their heads hung low, harnessed and blinkered, in service of the greater good. But a strange new affliction spreads amongst them. Mysterious markings appear on their flanks. Most call it a curse, the sign of the twin devils of Nightmare Moon and Celestia. But a few embrace it as a gift. They call themselves the 'Cutie Mark Crusaders', lead by the seemingly immortal hero, Mare-Do-Well.

This is the story of one Cutie Mark Crusader, and how her end became the beginning of many.
