Rarity is a complicated mare, more than I can realise even now. But even then, I wouldn't change anything. Even with her romantic silliness and lofty nature, I can't help but love her, and this is why.

Applejack and Rarity are headed out on a lunch date to one of Applejack's favorite lunch spots. Despite knowing that they can be polar opposites when it comes to things like this, Rarity is keeping and open mind.

If you were to ask any random pony off the street where Applejack would probably be in 20 years, they might respond that she would have settled down with a nice stallion, had children, and continued running the business. And Applejack would probably agree that was quite likely.

But, what we think will happen, is almost never what will happen. And the things we assume about ourselves, and our futures, are almost never accurate. Such is the case with Applejack.

It all started at a holiday party in the last week of December, when a prank played by Rainbow Dash awakened some strange feelings in Applejack, concerning a certain beautiful pony with a purple mane.

Applejack knows that Rarity had a rough foalhood, and an especially rough love life. That's why she strives to give Rarity everything she desires, because that's what a marefriend does, right?

Then why was Rarity acting so strange?

Rarity dates many stallions but she is better than each one of them, and the only pony aware of that is Applejack. When Rarity dates her latest coltfriend, Applejack is more frustrated and angry than before, but her friends believe she is jealous. However, they're not wrong.

Rarity and Applejack never thought that they would ever pursue a romantic relationship together - they just seemed too different. Funny how they managed to click and last for this long.

Now happily married and expecting their first child, one night - Applejack catches her wife talking to their unborn filly. Somehow, both of their emotions are exposed and they might just learn that sometimes, going with the flow is easier than worrying.
