Everypony knows the stories of Twilight Sparkle's adventures with the Bearers of the Elements of Harmony. Their heroism in cleansing Princess Luna of the Nightmare, their courage in facing Discord and his anarchy, their resolve to help Ponyville face its many disasters. What everypony doesn't know is that none of those stories ever happened.

This is Big Macintosh's story. And it is true.

Apple Bloom needs help with an assignment. Writers are supposed to have a 'voice' that is uniquely there', that sets them apart from each other. Of course, Apple Bloom won't have that voice at such a young age but how about somepony else? Someone older and wiser who already speaks in a voice that is distinctly his?

Deep in the Everfree Forest is a magical pool that legend says will tell the future fate of whoever looks into it. A most unlikely pony stumbles across it, and sees his most unlikely destiny.

The only question is, has he been there before?

While on a work trip to help family in Appleloosa, Big Macintosh strikes up some correspondences with friends back home. These are the letters that crossed Twilight Sparkle's desk.

Nopony really knows what Big Macintosh does on his free time. Nopony knows about his opinions, his views, or much of anything beyond the obvious. Not even his own family. One supposes he leaves a lot unsaid. Perhaps all of that is his business. But what is Big Macintosh often really thinking? What does he really do when he’s done at the orchard?

While visiting the library, Big Macintosh comes up with a prank to get even with Rainbow Dash for one played on him.

Big Macintosh Apple is not a pony to mess with; an unwavering crimson juggernaut that can snap trees like tinder and rip homes from their foundations. Many ponies owe their lives to him, and more than a few denizens of the Everfree Forrest have found out the hard way that anything under his protection is strictly off limits.
But there is one race that has yet to learn this lesson, and is in fact incapable of it: the Zerg, a monstrous horde from far beyond the touch of Celestia’s sun, shaped by malice and warfare into perfect killing machines. That Equestria is safe from their reach is no small blessing, but every barrier has its cracks, and Big Macintosh is about to learn that even the smallest part of the Swarm is a force to be reckoned with.

Told from the perspective of the reader listening to Applejack describe the depth of her brother's character by relating a story about how he resolved a conflict between the Apple family and the family of Applebloom's first coltfriend.

Rainbow Dash has lost a bet with Applejack, she now need to do a months worth of work on the farm.

What can go wrong ... or right? A whole month stuck with the Apple's might not be as much fun as you think it will be. Follow Rainbow as she find out, just what farm life is like, in her case anyway.

Rainbow Dash isn’t a traditional mare. She didn’t care to learn how to bake cookies when she was little, or help her mother cook, and never wanted a doll to play with. She was a tomcolt from the moment she was born, acting more like a colt each day. While other little fillies played with their dolls and talked about secret crushes, she was challenging colts to races and beating them.

So when Big Mac moves in with her, how is she supposed to tell the farm pony who was used to home cooked meals that she didn’t know how to cook?
