Reader Poll: Should "Oversharing" be a separate story from "Just Girls Talking Dirty"? · 3:42pm Mar 20th, 2017
TL;DR version: "Oversharing" is now going to be longer than three parts and, as has been noted, it has already escaped the parameters of "Just Girls Talking Dirty" to the point that it's time to give serious consideration to separating it from that story and making it a standalone story (perhaps tagged as a sequel). Thus, I thought I'd canvas reader opinion about the very likely possibility of me flat out making a standalone story out of "Oversharing".
When I started writing "Oversharing", I didn't expect it to inflate into a multi-chapter epic of smut.
This morning, I brainstormed a few twists and an ending that goes way beyond the scope of JGTD--even moreso than the existing chapters already have.
At this point, it's hard to justify keeping "Oversharing" around as part of JGTD when it really should be a separate, standalone story.
As things stand right now, we're looking at at least five chapters total--probably more--and a cohesive plot rather than, well...what's already there. And it kinda already sorta has a plot of its own in any case.
So, while I make the preparations, do my usual daily stuff, and try to get moving on some stuff I stll need to do with other stories, I'll let you, the readers, weigh on on what I should do here.
Should "Oversharing" continue to be part of "Just Girls Talking Dirty", or would you rather see it moved off to its own little standalone? Discuss below!
Standalone. It would be fine as a raunchier part of it if it was, at most, three chapters long. As it stands today, and expecting to be five long, if not more? Make it a sequel on its own right.
It will also give you the go around of not being limited by the premise of Girls. If it's not then only taking dirty (and going a little beyond occasionally) you can go full balls to the wall with the sex
I hope the girls get to flex their magic too, in those ways. Shimmy's hogging all the fun!

I'm also in favour of making it a separate story, where it can take on whatever size it needs to, without worrying about fitting in with the other chapters in size or subject.
I would keep it on JGTD while you try to make it standalone, lest you repeat the same mistake you did a long time ago with that smut with Sunset and Twilight in the hammock and Flash hiding in the bush doing his business.
It seems fine staying where it is right now, unless you really want to expand on it for much longer, than it should be its own story. I just hope if you do that you won't have any problem moving it into its own story and won't face any problems like you did with your "Stop! Hammock Time" story. I don't want to see you have to delete another great story because of a site rule.

4464272 Once it's posted and live as a standalone, the JGTD chapters will be deleted. This isn't the same situation as the hammock story, it's creating a sidestory out of existing chapters that no longer fit the parent story, rather than taking a deleted story and posting it as a chapter of a different story. (And I still don't actually think THAT would have been against the site rules; I was erring on the side of caution.)

Fair enough, but like you said, it never hurts to err on the side of caution.
Make it it's own story. JGT and JGTD really should only have two parters at max, since the format is more of a bunch of random ideas thrown together, and sticking to one point kinda ruins that vibe. If something takes two parts to fully flesh out, then it belongs on JGT and JGTD, but if it is getting to five chapters, then it deserves it's own story. At least that's how I view it.

4464327 Umm, this has nothing to do with deleting Just Girls Talking Dirty. At all. This has to do with making "Oversharing" a side story to Just Girls Talking Dirty because it doesn't really belong there anymore. Nobody ever said anything about deleting Just Girls Talking Dirty, that's not going to happen.

I think it works better as a standalone; even the first part went well beyond the premise of talking dirty.
4464664 Yeah, and where I'm planning to take it is even more off the rails. Decision's already been made, I just wanna knock down two patron bumps and possibly an EGGW chapter before I focus on the switchover.
With that long - and it having become its own story as it has - I'd definitely say make it its own story.

The first chapter felt like it fit in perfectly and would be fine staying I think with a link at the bottom for further parts.
Part two however definetly feels like a different story.

Over sharing is a great story all its own.
I feel like making it a standalone story would be best. The first two chapters were raunchy, but still felt somewhat grounded in something resembling reality, at least for what passes for reality in Equestria Girls. Oversharing was just outright porn. It's a neat situation, but the kind of situation that would feel out-of-character for at least some of them if not for the justification of it being porn. At least that's how I felt reading it.
Id say leave it but sounds like you have more then what would be needed to make a stand alone ad say call it a what if or side story
