Imagine being me. Imagine stumbling for several months through the mire of one's own laziness and self-doubt. Imagine planning a crazy comeback. Imagine, then, spending an entire week working on a kaizo crackfic, then editing said train wreck and even employing the gracious assistance of fellow marsupials. Imagine having let a badass piece of fanart marinate on one's hard drive for months with the nebulous promise of giving the artist some future props. Imagine wanting so desperately to get something featured on the weekend for one reason or another, that one breaks the tradition of spontaneously slapping up absurdly whacky drivel overnight, instead choosing for a slower, more cautious, more carefully prepared upload.
Imagine, then, not even remotely getting featured for the 20k+ story.
Then, before the weekend's over, I cave-in and do write a spontaneous bit of absurdly whacky drivel in under three hours.
And it gets featured immediately.
F'naaaaaaaaaa. First World Fimfic Author Problems. Amirite?

For what small amount it's worth, I'm enjoying "Apple Loader" a lot so far, as I chip away at it a few chapters at a time (the past couple of days have not been conducive to long reading sessions).
For what it's worth, you and your friendly neighborhood imploding colon's three longest works (BP, EoP, Austraeoh Saga) are all pretty successful.
Also, both EoP and Ponies are the Size of Cats both have 1000 comments right now.
I've been going back to re-read 'Because Ponies Are The Size Of Cats', myself, in your absence. You've been missed, Moonwhacker was fun as hell to read...

The thing is, the AppleJacked story is just too damn long for something like it. I pretty much skipped all the middle to get to the punchline. Make an abbreviated (abridged?) version and it'll shoot right up the rankings.
Moonwhacked, OTOH, was short enough that we don't question the absurdity of the whole thing.
And so another one joins League.

No need to worry, my friend. It's just how things go. That's why I've lowered my expectations for stories I liked to write; I know they might not do well.
My three most popular stories were written in two days, 45 minutes (just the first chapter), and a few hours respectively. I know that feel.
During two separate writing panels at Brony Con, advice was given, then qualified with "unless you're Skirts."
The moral?
I don't know what the moral is.
What was the 20k story? Moonwhacked is tagged to this, but it's only about 7k.
I got demoted to Gold 3 today because our Yasuo went afk 50 minutes into the game. I was playing Galio and went 17/9/20~something.

Hehe, screw the box, its just good to see you back. And I know the feeling, I wallow in self-pity about once a fortnight when I realize that I currently have nothing to contribute to society. Then I sleep it of and do my best finding pleasure in giving customers at the local grocery store the best friggin customer service they've ever had.
I think that feeling is something that anyone wrestles with when they see the unfathomably large universe and its nearly unchangeable course. Its sometimes hard to accept that I am just one tiny piece the puzzle.
On a side note, I also suck at league, and like an alcoholic leave every game feeling terrible and telling myself that I will never play again. And then I join another game and resume smashing my face into the keyboard.
I actually have this problem with my deviant art account. I have several pictures uploaded that I spend several hours on each. Almost no one bats an eye at them but the one image that has thousands of views is a lazy Herobrine image that I made in five minutes.
I know your frustration, brother.
Psh. You got nothing to be ashamed about. The words you write make for epic amazing on a daily basis, on read or reread or re-re-re-re-re-re-read (which is the number I'm on for a certain series rereading).
For the record? We all get there. But you got through, and that's what counts!
