This hasn't really been a huge problem, but I have noticed that a few people have started roleplaying on the site
Don't do this.
We're not going to even bother trying to justify our reasons, as I'm pretty sure nobody will bother listening to them. Just don't roleplay in the comments. I'm not going to be banning old roleplay accounts, since some of them have stories and everything, but new accounts made specifically for roleplaying will get you banned. Roleplaying comments will be deleted with a warning sent, and further action taken after that.
FAKE EDIT: Just to clarify, you ARE allowed to roleplay inside of groups SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR ROLEPLAYING, and also on blog posts SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR ROLEPLAYING. If you roleplay ANYWHERE ELSE you will be warned and possibly banned for further offenses.
REAL EDIT (05/29/12 0957 CST): I have no idea where people are getting the idea that we are banning people for roleplaying on the first offense. Roleplaying comments will be deleted with a warning sent to the creator, and then further action will be taken if the user continues to violate the rule. This usually will mean a ban, but not in every case. I never once said that I would be banning anybody for roleplaying on the first offense!

But roleplaying my OC helps me to flesh out her character! You're crushing my creative expression, you tyrant! I'd tell you what Blowsy thinks of all this, but you'd ban her even though she's done nothing wrong!
Out of curiosity, why the sudden crack down on RPing? I don't mind this ban, I'd just like to hear your logic behind it.

I take it that the main issue with RP is that it gets silly and offtopic, but what about RP reviews? What about useful and relevant story comments made while RPing as some character? Those are kinda cool...

Just an unwanted opinion here, but I would've either allowed RPing everywhere on the site, or banned it everywhere on the site. Narrowing it down to specific things like blog posts and groups designated for RPing opens up the possibility for subjective interpretations of intention, and that's a level of inanity no one should be forced to even think about. Granted, that probably wouldn't be a huge issue in the long run, but then again, that prediction is based on the assumption that the general population of the site is intelligent and capable of reading at a third-grade level, which...may not be accurate, if a couple previous mod posts are anything to go by. In any case, it seems to me like this is giving you enough of a headache already, and having those loopholes would only add to that.

Just another example of the mods limiting arthur freedom. First the brown box, then the scandalous 1000 words PER CHAPTER limit, now this. What about all the true gems of RPing, isn't that worth the billions of examples of spam, huh?? You can't tell me what to do, it's infringing on free speech, and that means I can say whatever I like, obviously.

You also said quite clearly that author's notes wouldn't count towards the first 1000 words of a story so it would qualify for posting, and you still had enough users doing it to follow it up with an "are you even fucking serious" post. People are idiots, and giving them certain situations where RPing is okay is going to bring out people who either A) didn't read it right, B) take that definition farther than it's supposed to go, or C) just don't give a shit either way. All problems you could easily fix with a swing of the banhammer, sure, but all I'm saying is that if it were me running the site (which, yes, I'm aware it's not), I would've just banned all RPing anywhere and simplified it for everyone.

I genuinely didn't realize that was a growing problem.
Lucky for me, I don't play RPGs on non-RPG sites.
I have never once encountered a single example of this, which I'm going to call a good thing.

Please. But be aware, by "no rules," I mean "no rules." As in, if I want to spam, or trade viruses, or upload so much data that the server explodes in its cabinet, the mods will be like, "I'm going to allow this."

Well, for example, you post a story. You are really excited about what people think and the feedback they will give you.
You wake up the next day, and to your delight see that you have 30 comments on your new story! "Great!" you think. "Knowing what people think will help me a lot!"
You open up your story to find those 30 comments are nothing to do with your story, just two people pretending to be Applejack and Twilight kissing.
Never even knew this was any kind of issue. Never noticed it even existed. Okay, I guess I'll continue to not roleplay.

I mean seriously, it's fine and all, but not all the authors on this site want to see people talking about other stuff on their stories. I've had this problem before with people going off topic and RPing with each other on each chapter I post.
