Somewhere past nations and kingdoms, beyond all horror and far from every shining hope, Twilight knows that she will find what she seeks at the edge of the world, before the Walls of Dusk.

It has been a long journey. And one can only bear the Call for so long.

Lyra and Bon Bon have a fight.

Evil is a circle. A pony is hurt and in turn hurts another. It self-perpetuates, misery on top of misery, geometric, exponential. Lyra considers this.

Dusk is all set to enjoy a good book and some tea on a stormy day when a visitor knocks on his door and turns an otherwise peaceful day into a mystery.

After a long time--she would be more precise but Twilight has lost track of time--she emerges from the dark of the library. Her candles are burnt down to nubs. There is no food left in her pantry and furthermore, no coffee. So she goes to seek both.

The Papers of one Lily, full name unknown, found by one Babs Seed of Manehattan. Found in the ruins of the Rockehoof Hotel on the last day of the Griffon Occupation of the city, an eyewitness account of the sorrows of the Long Night after Celestia left Equestria and went West. Held together with rubberbands and a few paperclips. Written on a variety of different kinds of paper. The back is bare except for splotches of blood and candlewax. The front bears the message:

I have only one song and I sang it for you.

A Sidestory to The Night is Passing , also found on Equestria Daily.

Who is that coming up from the wilderness,
leaning on her beloved?

Rarity is not whole. Her adventures have finally caught up to her, and after a daring rescue of her beloved Rainbow Dash, she finds herself at least temporarily crippled. Her doctors are baffled--raw magic poisoning of the magnitude she sustained is not exactly commonplace. But Rainbow is there for her, watching, worried, and hopeful. A Lady endures all things, after all, and Rarity is the epitome of a lady.

Sequel to Where the Sun is Silent, Catch For Us the Little Foxes, and Great Heart Will Not Be Denied. Knowledge of these is helpful, but not exactly required. The story is less about the continuity and more about Rarity and Dash.

A lot has happened to Rarity in the last few years. Engagement, new business, adventure, losing a limb. But with the last, she is done with adventure and with danger, or at least, done seeking it out. For Rarity, nothing seems safe anymore, and so when Rainbow has to help with a huge freak storm, Rarity is left alone in the dark.

The dark which she has learned to fear for wholly justified reasons.

Vinyl's all but dropped out, but somehow she manages to hang on to a passing grade. Most of her motivation has to do with a certain Octavia, her best friend (inexplicably) and the fact that it's the best place to hang out with her. Vinyl loves seeing her at school and chilling while they do homeowork, but sometimes she just wants to hang out on her own terms, you know? Do something that's not, well, kinda lame. Or something. PBR isn't lame, right? Well, it is, but Vinyl is destitute and the convenience store down the street sells them at a bit for a pint... All's good that starts good. She's pretty sure that's how that goes.

His wife disappears, unwilling to bear the burden of his death and what it means. With the town in disarray over the recent flooding, very few ponies even bother to attend. Twilight and Rarity, however, are there, and Rarity soon finds that she cannot shake her friend's last admonition.
