... Why was this added to "Give Blueblood Some Character?" The group is supposed to be about him NOT being a flat evil-doer, about exploring the character beyond the common hatred of him for his few scenes in a single episode.:unsuresweetie:

Well, actually the group has never stated any such exact intent. True enough, the story portraits him as a villain; having the character wade yet deeper through the rivers of darkness. It is however an attempt to create depth to the character, which as far as I can see was all the group demanded. Correct me if I have misinterpreted the requirements.

Also... What's there to hate about villains? *smirks*

Maybe I misunderstand the group, but I'm of the opinion that it has nothing to do with whether Blueblood is good or evil, or nice or a jerk.

He's a caricature in the show; all we see is someone who is such a jerk it's funny, and we learn absolutely nothing about his life. Giving him character shouldn't be about making him sympathetic, it should be about making him a real character, who you can actually imagine having motives, fears, desires, and ambitions. Villains can be just as much characters as heroes (even if their ultimate goal is cliche, they might have an interesting reason for desiring it). Sometimes villains are much more interesting characters than the heroes themselves; it's often much more interesting to learn what drove someone down the darker path than why the hero is the hero.
