"Derpy Hooves" is the nickname given to the strange, awkward mare who lives on the edges of Ponyville. What will happen when Princess Celestia sends her a guardian to help socialize her - without her knowledge? How will Derpy handle the discovery that her "friend" was hired to be her babysitter? Against the backdrop of the beautiful Winter Wishes Festival, can Honey Muffin help Derpy Hooves learn to be normal? And what happens if 'normal' isn't something Derpy wants to be?
Warnings: None, this is a very strong friend-shippy fanfic. There are some brief moments of nuzzling that could be read as femshipping, but in the end, it's left up to the reader's interpretation. The only warning would be for the OC, Honey Muffin, who was created as a foil to Derpy Hooves in this story.
As far as the tags go, these aren't 100% accurate; although the story does have many [Sad] elements, it ultimately has a happy ending. Also, although I didn't tag it as [Romance], it could be read that way, but mostly, it should be tagged as [Very Strong Friend-Shipping].

This was one of the first fanfics I read, if was a wile back. thankfuly I remembered the name of this story and was able to find it again.
This is still one of my favorit stories.
I'm primarily interested in this for when it was written. According to her ff.net story posting , this was done on 12 16 10, and earlier posted on the original /co/ thread. I'm keenly interested in finding the very oldest fan material as I'm curious about the original fan depiction of Equestria when Derpy was brand new and we knew nothing of Luna or Equestria in general.
And maybe find that legendary first fic showing Derpy as the mail mare of which all other depictions are based.
Jimbo is the only author I've found from the earliest time who made copies of her stories on other sites other than 4chan. If anyone knows of any other authors pre 2011 or written before the second half of season 1, I'd really like to know.
read this some time ago before i was a sight member. remembered it just now and am about to reread this absolutely beautiful story.
I think this was the first ponyfic I'd ever read, and ever since then Bright Eyes has been my favourite fanon name for Ms. Hooves.
