Honestly, I'd prefer the first option where Sunset goes back willingly, if not eagerly, but would happily read the second.

If I go along with Twilight vs Sunset, I'm keeping the other Equestria Girls out of it. Spike will remain a dog...and I'm pondering if Twilight's Vector Awakening should have some resemblance to Lucy's. Just spitballing atm.

Haven't really dove that far into OC's character beyond being the physical body of a semi-omnipotent Author.

I did do one Worldbuilding element you might like, He sits in a reading chair surrounded by floating puzzle pieces. Most of them are blank, but others are are characters, plot points, action sequences, etc. when enough connect that I can vaguely see a story, I paint the blank pieces to fill in the blanks.

I could go ether way, it would be fun seeing a tusend plus year diclo go to town on the resrche facility, but ther is the classic but with a fun twist to it.
