Weddings are high-risk feasts for changelings. Such unpredictable surges of love feed an entire hive for multiple years if they survive.

Yes, “Kevin” is the fanon name for the changeling featured in Slice of Life.
Interesting story, but I'm not sure where the horror tag comes into play

Kevin literally died from emotional overload and his body was going to be eaten by his hive
This was a good story. An interesting take on a rarely-used character. Your prose was good, and it felt well-paced, despite the word limit. Good job overall.
aww Kevin’s in this
fun fact: my main exposure to terms like this is through the Mountain Goats song titles
ooh, interesting! Kevin being from a different Changeling hive than Chrysalis’s makes a lot more sense
hehe, about as much effort as the writers might’ve put in
aww, do love the idea of love as an energy source implying different qualities of different kinds of love. or flavors, as a food?
indeed that does raise all sorts of questions!
very lucky!
ooh fun re-interpretation of this canon scene which seemed very much like avoiding a Changeling
probably not the best choice in a crowd that already contains a Celestia, but love-drunkness would explain the lack of judgment (or is this a commentary on some sort of canon discontinuity or error that implies two Celestias at the wedding?)
ooh fascinating! is Kevin relying on feigning death and being sent vaguely northward to reunite him with his hive carrying a payload of stored love energy? or did he actually die? is it meant to be ambiguous? but either way, definitely an interesting take on Changelings in general and Kevin in particular. thank you for writing!
Ah, Kevin. So many questions, so few answers.
Honestly, I feel you could have put this in Slice of Life. Maybe even Comedy. Maybe it’s just me, but this whole thing seems almost farcical. Yes, there’s the possibility of Kevin sacrificing his life to act as a love battery, but some insects do way messed-up stuff than that. Don’t get me started on slug parasites…
Still, fascinating story, especially the sheer amount of changeling headcanon you managed to cram in. Thank you for a most enjoyable read.
Profound work. Easily topples 75% of fics around here. The flow of storytelling is very indirect, relying on subtleties to carry the action forward. Word choice is somewhat abstract, albeit perfectly balanced. Rich undertones of implicit comparisons and things to be open for interpretation. I'd hang this miniscule snippet of text in museums to tell all the passing visitors that "this is how you write a good story"
