Awesome worldbuilding as always. Hits just the spot for me.

I'm glad you enjoy my stuff! Also, sorry for the very late reply. Good thing I decided to check Fimfic before I go to sleep.

ive been getting into EaW for the past few months. I've never been a particularly big fan of Daybreaker, so I haven't actually gotten around to playing her path yet, but your interpretation of her is definitely turning me around. The idea of Daybreaker not as a power-hungry tyrant but as a version of Celestia overcome with despair, grief, and hatred is very compelling, and the aftermath of her having abdicated as princess? extremely evocative

Anyways, I love the direction your taking with your 'canon' of how the events in EaW played out. I've spent an unhealthy amount of time reading ww2 memoirs and such, and combining that wartime vibe with what's basically a grittier flavor of fantasy appeals to me exactly. All in all, I love this!!

Thank you so much for the kind words! You have no idea how much I've waited for someone else to sum up my own interpretation of Celestia and EaW canon so accurately. A very big part of my motivation for writing these is that I want to show the EaW community what is possible with Equestria and also show them that Celestia can have way more character and be way more interesting than a lot of people think she is. Comments like yours put a big smile on my face, so thank you.

Rest assured that there'll be more short stories coming in the future (once I can find time to actually write them down and post them because school and procrastination is sucking up a lot of that right now).

i'll be looking forward to it then!

this continues to be an interesting glimpse into this iteration of EaW. faithful to the name, 'on the road to '63', i like that this shows off the world of EaW shown outside the mod. the segment with kiria was a highlight. i also really liked the hinting of what happened to celestia during the waning years of the great war. presumably the extreme destruction that ensued at versapolis made her go completely 180 on the whole 'military totalitarian' thing. though whether she was there in the city at its aftermath, or was directly responsible for whatever horrible thing happened there, remains to be seen

The cause is actually quite tame. Daybreaker having second thoughts was because the very basis of why she came about (changelings under Chrysalis invading Equestria) was effectively gone, and the changelings they were fighting at that point were actually against Chrysalis' regime (although despite knowing this, they were still very much not trusted by a lot of Equestrians for good reason). And so with her motivation for ascending as Daybreaker and militarizing Equestria out of the picture, she had no reason to continue. Logically, she should have immediately stopped, made peace with the Thoraxian changelings, and dialed Equestria’s militarization back towards prewar levels, but the sheer hatred she had for the changelings (for example: the piles of bodies of summarily executed changelings being burned that were featured back in "Inferno" and the strategic destruction of Vraks implied back in "Ashes") clouded her mind. In the end, this prolonged the conflict and unnecessarily took more lives which Celestia heavily regrets among many other failures.

Anyway, I'm glad at how you've taken interest with my own fanon timeline of EaW. While school and other things continue to constantly threaten to take away a lot of my time and motivation to write, I'll make sure to still put out the short stories I post in the EaW subreddit from time to time. Also, if you haven't stumbled upon it before, then I have this summary of events that I put up in that subreddit which I believe could help give some important context about the things that are happening in this anthological(-esque?) series (though it doesn't cover all the stories I've written since then).

i see! certainly 'less exciting' than what i thought, but still interesting!

a kind end to a decidedly unkind ruler! depending on what chrysalis did in this universe, island arrest might even seem unjust to those who suffered under her regime, but i like that the spirit of harmony and forgiveness spread so far even to her, and seemingly did a better job at keeping her out of trouble than it did in the main show. though it helps that she's captured and cant really do anything else

Reading the title..is it (The Title) based on Road to 56?

Kind of, yeah. It's a reference to that.

Caught up with the last two chapters. For the last one, the husband mispeaking turned my infiltrator alarms all the way up. For this one, it's a cozy snapshot into celestia and twilight's relationship post-daybreaker. if im reading this right, she was half the reason daybreaker was able to be 'defeated' at all, what with being the moral compass and all. It's nice to see her still support celestia, even after all that. It really shows the strenght of their bond. Though it does make me wonder what luna personally thinks of the whole fiasco

Good to hear your thoughts on the two latest chapters. As for Luna, I may write something in the future divulging a little bit about her role in the whole Daybreaker thing.

Anyway, thank you for reading, and I wish you a Happy New Year!
