She often went to town while disguised as a pony. She created an earth mare named Crystal Heart, a brown maned mare with a shimmering aquamarine coat and a diamond-shaped crystal superimposed over a pink heart for a cutie mark... She often went to town for supplies and to learn about her enemy, Starlight Glimmer... She learned Starlight had recently broke up with Trixie and was very depressed. Now seemed like the perfect opportunity to make her pay! Chrysalis would pretend to be a pony, get Starlight to fall in love with her, and then betray her and break her heart to completely destroy her! The plan seemed so perfect! There was just one problem...
The premise is interesting, but not a fan of starting so far into the story. I'd have love to have seen it build up to this point. To just be dropped off here is unsatisfying.

I chose to start from this point because it sets the premise and gets into the primary conflict of this story, namely, Chrysalis's internal conflicts regarding Starlight Glimmer. I suppose I could maybe write a prequel later, though?

That is a good point. However, I don't really picture Starlight as the type to really want to live in a castle? It wouldn't surprise me if she just scaled down and left the castle vacant, all things considered...
As for the others finding out about her, the truth is, I don't know... I don't know where these stories come from inside me and why they always make cohesive logical sense in the end, but it happens like this...

You know, I never really thought about it? I mean, it kinda is, but unless Starlight is mad about it, I wouldn't see any faults? The truth is however, Crystal Heart really did love Starlight by that point, even if she was pretending to be something else... However, the question becomes, which is really the mask? Crystal Heart or Chrysalis?
