This story is a sequel to MLP A New Generation 2: The Last of The Alicorns
Sunny, victorious over Luster Dawn, returns home to a hero's welcome. But, she's still concerned about her missing mother. Furthermore, her relationship with Hitch is heating up, and it appears they're heading for marriage. But, a dark cloud still hangs over Equestria, one that Sunny and her friends feel ready to face. However, it's gonna take more than just their friendship to save Equestria this time. It's gonna take the power...of dark-tinged rock and roll!

I don't really get why Haven and the mayor have to relinquish their roles just because Sunny is now the ruler of Equestria. I mean, even back when Celestia was on the throne, Cadance still ruled over the Crystal Empire

Yeah, Equestrian politics are a bit weird to me. Why have four princesses (read: queens) when only two of them are actually doing any ruling? So, I'm changing it up a bit. Plus, I want to establish Sunny as the sole ruler of Equestria, so I'm having her lead Maretime for a while. When she's coronated, the mayor will most likely return to her duty.

I can't get my head around this part. First, Meadow says that alicorns - and alicorn magic-infused creatures - can't die no matter how badly they're harmed. But then it seems like she contradicts herself a moment later. What is her logic here?

Basically, in this universe, an Alicorn's lifespan is tied to the magic lying within them. When that magic goes, so does the Alicorn. No matter what physical harm befalls said Alicorn, as long as the magic remains, then their lives will continue. Luster's magic dissipated in the wake of Sunny and her friends' attack.
