Time to write some fanfiction! Yay! If you have any thoughts comment! I find reading them fun!

E

Despite her best efforts Octavia's injury still only leaves her the ability to play half of the cello's notes. That is not enough to play as a professional cellist. She gets guidance about her gift from a very unexpected source.

I like your tool of measurement! :D

Are you, perchance, a fan of M*A*S*H? There's an episode with this exact premise, including the moral.

My family used to watch it, so I might have gotten the idea from it subconsciously. What made me think of it is it's in a Scrubs episode. (Only it was a piano player and there wasn't a moral to the story.)

The MASH episode featured a piano player as well. It's eerie how similar this is to that episode, right down to someone explaining the difference between playing the notes and playing music.

Also, in that episode, he give the injured person some music sheets for songs that only require one hand to play, so since those kinds of songs exist, hope is not lost for Octavia.

Hehe, then I probably remembered it from my childhood without realizing it. The only things I really remember are Hawkeye, Klinger, and Radar had ESP.

And yay! I mean, I guessed that there are songs that don't require the full range of notes.

I'm confused... What was the point of adding this?

Reference to my ongoing theme of 1k word fics.

Reminds me of a concert I did in junior high where i ended up rolling my right ankle and pulled my left middle finger horseplaying and had to limp out with my cello and still had to play through the pain

So I read through this, and I'm feeling rather dumb at the moment. Did I miss the point? Because I don't understand how the moral allowed her to suddenly start playing.

It's kind of a "You know how to "make music," even if you can't play at a concert level. I can play at a concert level, but I don't know how to "make music.""

Another cool premise and a solid story.
