A shapeshifter from another world has landed in Ponyville, intent on bringing chaos and disruption. An ever-curious Pinkie Pie interrupts their plotting, and the shapeshifter's improvisation gets them stuck with the pink pony. They find themselves having to work under Pinkie's nose to try and destroy these ponies' happy lives, but constant exposure to that tsunami of glee is sure to have an effect on anyone.

Not bad so far... Keep writing.

So the moral of the story is, it doesn’t matter how many lives you ruin as long as you feel bad.

I mean just cuz they're the POV character doesn't mean they're supposed to be like, a good guy. Like, you're right that they're still A Bad Person, that's the intention.

(It always amazes me to discover fans of Friendship Is Magic, a show about reforming everybody, that have a problem with reforming anybody. I blame the Season Four finale for pulling in the Dragon Ball Z fans.)

Anyway, I thought this was quite good. It emphasized the journey to being good, rather than making it instantaneous. It's a shame that you decided to stop it where you did, but I don't mind too much--the ending is pretty clear from this point.

Glad you liked it! I get what you mean, like. Honestly, in just about any universe aside from the functional utopia of Equestria, I would most likely consider Strawberry irredeemable. It's a strange dissonance with the world as it is today, because I do believe that in an ideal world, nobody would be truly irredeemable, but our world, and most fictional worlds, are not ideal worlds. I enjoy exploring how things could work differently in those ideal worlds, though, and the picture of Equestria I have in my mind definitely tends towards the ideal. But the dissonance is certainly undeniable. We read stories through a 21st century lens, after all.

I do have an idea of how I would want to continue the story, but it would be... different. Different enough that it would need to be its own story, rather than an addition to this one. The story of Strawberry actually learning to be good, past just deciding to make an effort, could certainly be good, I'm just. Not all that interested in telling it, at least for now. That hypothetical sequel would probably also be a ways off anyway because writing this made me realize that I would like a higher baseline of skill before attempting another serial story, because I feel like there's a bit of a gulf between how good the beginning and end of this story are.

I just typed a lot of words huh. Well, thanks for the kind words. Strawberry will return in Avengers: Endgame (that is not true)

The pace of action...is ridiculously fast.

Huh. Well, that was quick. The protagonist even lucked out in getting a pony that Rarity is friends with. However, if this is post Season 2 (though there's nothing so far I think that indicates it), the ponies will also think of changelings if Fluttershy is confused when confronted by Rarity.

On another note, I'm somehow not surprised the protagonist prefers a neutral pronoun. Being able to shapeshift, I'm sure they would have lost sense of whatever was their birth gender, if they even had one.

Conveniently, Spike is in Canterlot so Twi can't even use dragon mail to verify with Celestia before running off. Not that she would anyways. She does like her panic attacks :twilightoops:

My oh my, the main character certainly isn't making themself any friends. Just digging the hole deeper for when they inevitably get caught. At this point, I really got no sympathy, considering they dropped Applejack from high up and tried to make the CMC cry :flutterrage:

Oh dear. Rainbow Dash caught him, did she now? At least, that's the vibe I'm getting. That, and the way she carefully worded her question, 'Who is Strawberry Tart?'

They're slowly getting worn down by the tenacity of the ponies. Given apparently the protagonist has been to other places before, I wonder what's so different about this one now.

Pinkie's blackmail is...not very good? The story synopsis even says the shapeshifter is from another world. So unless they're somehow stuck here, they could just jump off to another world, if somehow they can't do their shtick in the rest of Equestria or foreign lands. Still, now they've been truly caught.

Looks like Pinkie's got her groove back. That didn't take her long :pinkiehappy:

Well, looks like the protagonist is at least fixing up one of the ponies he's troubled. Three, really, if you count Pinkie getting her manestyle back, and Rarity, simply for letting her express her creative outlet.

...wut.

So shapeshifters are actually like, monster monsters, as in there's apparently an entire subcategory of the taxonomic code the monster kingdom to go along with the animal kingdom and plant kingdom? That would mean the protagonist is functionally classified into the same group as regular monsters like the salamander in question, or tatlwurms, or Ursas, etc. Except they are more sapient, given they're able to talk and reason.

My head hurts.

Slowly wrapping things up and settling in.

So, that was a fic. The shapeshifter slowly becomes reformed over time. Such is the magic of Pinkie Pie, and why she deserved to be the alicorn Princess instead of Twilight  :twilightangry2:

I guess this would definitely have to be pre-Season 2, otherwise they would suspect a changeling first. But I'm still scratching my head as to the synopsis where the shapeshifter is from another world. They could have just left instead of somehow being magically trapped in Ponyville by Pinkie.

As for me leaving so many comments...yeah, I try to leave comments inversely to how many comments a fanfiction already has. A super-popular fic with thousands of comments I'll occasionally pop in and say something here and there. Something like this I'll try posting every chapter.

Thanks for the read! I appreciate the comments actually, it's always nice to hear people's thoughts.

I do, like, have a reason they couldn't just leave, but I never actually went into it in the story so I guess it tracks that it'd be a sticking point. If I were to write a sequel it'd probly go into the logistics of it all but idk how likely that is.

I hope you enjoyed the read, though! This was my first story, which honestly I think kinda shows (especially with all the questions people end up having like "what about changelings," ideally I would've addressed that) but I'm not unhappy with it. I learned a lot while writing it, and Strawberry has a special place in my heart.
