Locked in a constant fight between perfectionism and incredible laziness

"Within these pages are summaries of what history shall remember far better than peace and harmony: War, hate, rivalry, and even genocide. From wars as old as the Griffonian continent to bitter civil wars and glorious revolutions, the world is far from one of love and tolerance. It's a place that on the surface is cynical and disheartening. What's underneath is even more so dear readers."-Pre-emblem

Written for the 2019 Equestria at War writing contest and thus is set within its world. Equestria at War is a mod for Paradox Interactive 'Hearts Of Iron 4'! If you own the game, I highly recommend you look up the mod on the workshop as it has effort and hard work from dozens of talented modders, coders, modelers, and artist who have made something I have spent hundreds of hours enjoying. With that explanation aside, enjoy the little dumb lore thing I've made (Note: some liberties have been taken with minor lore for flavor and there are likely mistakes because we all human y'all)

All credit to Winter Breeze for his/ her amazing editing! I couldn't ah done it without em!

Huh. Always wondered why they fought so damn much.

"Damned Griffons! They ruined Griffonia!"

About sums up the whole bloody continent

I’m almost certain “Morisect” is an error, but it’s still PERFECT as a nickname. :rainbowlaugh:

Yes... yes let us go with that.

I was always perplexed and amused at how many times both states declare wars and sue for peace, within the same year at least! Jeez, would not want to live there.

Also,

“After every planting season, as the peasants begin to grow bored and think of all the petty troubles they have and all the faults in their leaders, the leaders of both begin to worry. Said mostly incompetent leaders then begin to lay the blame on the aforementioned petty issues on the other, reminding of previous losses and almost ‘total’ victories that in reality meant very little. By the end of the month, the peasants are already baying for blood and the aristocrats who run these countries oblige them. At least until harvesting season.”

This irritated me because of how close to home this is in reality. *deep sigh*

This is kind of sad to read. I give the Equestrians credit for trying to broker peace, but I fear yak stubbornness will prevail here.

this story arc will be perfect in invoking the Cerberus syndrome trope when the player gets deep into the story.

Those Deers have a lot of odds stacked against them.

Seems to me that monarchy and republic are always competing on who can produce the most body counts. The race to innocent bloodshed keeps on going.

It appears these griffon purists fit the stereotype of mean ole griffons, except worse.

Liked this fic. Very much enjoyed it. Thumbs up.👍

If I was the leader of either country, my strategy would be to pull my troops deep into our own countryside far away from the border, perhaps building some minor fortifications and wait for the other to start a conflict, eventually escalating into war. The other side, probably too dimwitted to consider it may be a trap, would send their soldiers deep into our countryside, looting and pillaging as they advanced. After the enemy soldiers are sufficiently disorganized and distracted from constant looting, I would order my forces to attack from all sides when they least expect it! We would encircle and destroy practically their entire army before then advancing into their countryside, eventually claiming their capital and the enemy nobles by extension. After their inevitable surrender, we would annex them.

The dread league scares me. While I don't think I've ever witnessed the Dark Crusade, I always know in the back of my mind that they're waiting, biding their time.

I've never understood why the other nations, especially harmonious nations like Equestria aren't more concerned about the Dread League. The Changelings are awful, sure, but they have a logical motivation and a semi-reasonable view of the world. The Dread League however is not only insane, but has the potential to overwhelm the world, rising the dead and enslaving those they spare. Arcturius preserve us all.

They may be technologically and numerically disadvantaged, but they still have a decent chance of victory. Changeling tanks (and by extension tanks in general) can't do much good in extremely cold environments. The Deer are far more familiar with and adapted to Olenian territory than the Changelings could ever hope to be, which would make guerilla warfare extremely efficient for the Deer to utilize.

While I doubt the Deer have enough strength to push into Changeling territory all by themselves, the Changelings are lacking in resources (which is why they invade Olenian in the first place). If Olenia can hold out long enough, the Changelings eventually won't have enough resources to wage war.
