A Pink Melody

Sonata sat outside Canterlot High, sadly looking down at the ground, what could she do? She didn't have a place to go or stay, she couldn't ask any of her friends, they probably still didn't trust her, and she didn't know whether it was right to ask or not.

"HIYA SONATA" shouted a high-pitched voice

Sonata turned around grinning widely, she had already forgotten why she was upset, she saw her enthusiastic friend, holding a bag that had a delicious scent.

"Hey Pinkie, what'cha got there?"

"Your favorite, TACOS" Pinkie held out a well-made taco.

Sonata's eyes lit up, it made her happy knowing she got her favorite food from her favorite person.

"Thanks, Pinkie, did you get this from the cafeteria?"

Pinkie's smile turned into a grin.

"It IS Tuesday, but I made these myself"

"Wow, you can COOK?"

"Of COURSE silly, I work at a sweetshop and I help out Granny Smith and Applejack at the cafeteria, I could even give you the recipe," said Pinkie waving a piece of paper in Sonata's face.

"Oh...thanks, but I don't know how to cook...I uh...never learned"

Pinkie giggled

"Then I'll teach you"

Sonata blushed.

"You...You would?"

Her friend nodded.

"It's like my sister maud always said; teaching is like a rock, it's simple and easy to learn about"

"You have a sister?" asked Sonata surprised

"Yeah, three actually, but Maud's the oldest, what about you?"

Sonata suddenly frowned sadly.

"Well...I don't have a family, Adagio and Aria were the closest things I had, and even then, they were real meanies..."

Pinkie looked at her confused.

"But if you don't have a family, then where do you stay?"

Sonata didn't answer, she hugged her legs sadly and buried her face in her knees.

"Oh..." said Pinkie as her hair slightly deflated, almost like it was a balloon. Then it suddenly reinflated as she had an idea.

"YOU COULD COME LIVE WITH ME!!!" she shouted enthusiastically.

Sonata looked at Pinkie, her face a brilliant shade of pink roses.

"L-Live with you?"

Pinkie hugged sonata with the grip like a snake's tail"Of course, we could be housemates, we could stay up, watch movies, eat sweets, play truth or dare, and talk about parties!!!"

Sonata smiled a bit

"That sounds great, but what about Aria?"

Pinkie let go of her friend.

"She doesn't have a place either?"

Sonata shook her head.

"Oh...I thought it was just you" said Pinkie, Sonata thought she heard a tinge of disappointment in her friend's voice, then Pinkie smiled sheepishly

"But hey, the more the merrier right?"

Sonata smiled,

"Yeah"

Pinkie stood up and grinned.

"Sonata, pack your things, we're going to my place"

It was Sonata's turn to smile sheepishly.

"I..um...don't have any things"

"Oh...well then get your friend Aria and meet me at the sweetshop"

"I thought you said we were going to your place?" asked Sonata

Pinkie giggled.

"The sweetshop IS my home silly"

"Oh...right, okay I'll see you there"

"Ugh, Sonata, why did you bring me here again?" asked the brash voice of Aria

"Because Pinkie lives in the apartment above the store, and she's letting us stay here until we get our own place," said Sonata excitedly

"Well, I guess this place IS better than the streets" Aria sighed

The two girls sat at a booth and waited for her Pinkie to show up.

"Ugh what's TAKING her so LONG" complained Aria

"Oh stop being a Debby downer Aria, Pinkie'll be here soon"

Aria smirked at her

"You mean your girlfriend?"

Sonata turned a bright red.

"WHAT?! Sh-She's not my girlfriend"

"You wish she was"

"Do NOT"

"Do TOO"

"Do NOT"

"DO TOO"

"Hey, girls, what's up?" Said a voice.

They both turned their heads, Pinkie was at their table, wearing her adorable work outfit.

Aria snickered, but Sonata blushed when she saw her, Pinkie looked like a french maid.

"Aria, glad to see you," Pinkie said, oblivious to Sonata's red face

"Whatever Princess Pink," said Aria snorted

"So what were you two talking about?"

"Only that Sonata wished that she had you as a-"

"BESTIE" shouted Sonata, her face now a dark wine red.

Pinkie giggled.

"We ARE besties, silly, I'm besties with everyone"

Aria's smirk turned to a smug smile.

"Riiiiight....'Bestie"

Sonata glared at Aria angrily.

Pinkie, not noticing smiled.

"Anyways, My apartment has two bedrooms, I was thinking that you two in my room, and I could sleep in Maud's"

"WHAT?!" Said Aria and Sonata in unison

"No way, Aria snores like a monster," said Sonata

"And Sonata tosses and turns too much"

"Then Sonata could sleep with me in my room, and you could sleep with Maud," Pinkie said to Aria.

Aria's smug smile turned into a smug grin.

"Looks like you got a roommate Sonata"

Sonata hid her red face in her hands and groaned in discomfort.

Pinkie opened the door to her apartment she shared with her sister Maud.

"Welcome to my humble Abode," she said cheerfully, Aria and Sonata jumped when they heard a loud noise as confetti fell on their heads"

"What the heck was THAT?!" snapped Aria

"My party cannon, silly, maud and I set it up to shoot confetti when you came in"

Pinkie turned around to the entrance to the kitchen.

"MAUD, THEIR HERE" she shouted, then suddenly a girl slowly walked out of the kitchen, her hair was a shade of dull purple and her skin a shade of gray, the only thing that made her stand out what the noisemaker she had in her mouth, and after a few seconds, she blew through it, making probably the most exciting noise of her life.

Aria and Sonata were in shock.

"That's your sister!?" they said in unison

"Yeah, isn't she just the most fun person EVER?!"

Maud slowly blinked, then looking at Sonata, the two girls heard her speak for the first time.

"You must be Sonata, Pinkie's been talking to me and boulder about you....a lot"

Sonata's eyes dilated "She does?"

Pinkie turned red and giggled nervously,

"Ehehehehe...."

She turned to maud and whispered hastily.

"Maud, you're embarrassing me in front of Sonata"

Maud's face didn't change.

"Sorry," she said bluntly.

"Who's boulder?" asked Sonata trying to change the subject.

"My pet rock," said Maud

"You have a ROCK as a PET?" asked Aria

"...Me and my sister grew up on a rock farm"

The room went silent until Aria began to roar with laughter.

"PINKIE, GREW UP ON A-Pfft- ROCK FARM?!"

Pinkie frowned sadly, seeing this, Sonata kicked Aria in the shin.

"OW, okay, okay, JEEZ" muttered aria rubbing her ankle.

A few hours later, the four girls sat of the kitchen table while eating dinner cooked by Pinkie. Aria sat across from maud while Pinkie sat across from Sonata, who had their phones out and texted to each other, giggling loudly. Aria began to get annoyed with the text noises and the laughter.

"Ugh, mind keeping the volume down?"

the girls looked up

"What volume? We aren't even talking" Sonata said smirking at her

Aria growled in annoyance and stood up.

"I'm going to bed, this room is becoming a circus"

And with that, she walked out of the room.

"Awww, she's going to miss the fun," said Pinkie

"Actually..." yawned Sonata "I'm kind of tired too, Pinkie"

"Oh...Okay" said Pinkie, disappointedly,but she tried her best to smile.

Sonata got up and went to the bathroom to change.

Sonata walked into pinkie's room, it was a very pink room with a vent. It smelled like rubber balloons and birthday cake.

"Just like Pinkie..." Sonata muttered to herself

"I hope you don't mind the loose vent cover," said a high-pitched, friendly voice behind her.

Sonata jumped "How DOES SHE DO THAT?!" she thought to herself.

"Ready for bed Sonata?"

"Yeah..."

Sonata took a small pillow off of Pinkie's bed and put it on the ground, and was about to lay down until Pinkie stopped her,

"It's okay, I can sleep on the floor"

Sonata was speechless for almost a whole minute

"But...it's YOUR bed"

"I know, but I bet you haven't slept on something soft in a while, besides I don't mind sleeping on the-" Pinkie was interrupted by Sonata hugging her tightly

"Thank you...Thank you for everything"

Pinkie felt heat rush to her cheeks but wasn't hesitant to hug her back.

"Sonata, seeing you smile is more important to me than my own"

After a few seconds, they let go and went to their sleeping places.

"Goodnight Pinkie"

"Goodnight Sonata"

Sonata stayed still for a while, and silently took in the scent of the pillows and blankets, they smelled like Pinkie too, for the first time ever, she felt at home. She had a sense of warmth inside her heart that she had never felt before.

" I have it so bad " She thought.

Pinkie woke up in the middle of the night to find Sonata sound asleep, Pinkie smiled softly and went to the kitchen to get a glass of milk, when suddenly she heard talking from Maud's room.

"EVERYONE knows Sonata has a crush on her, seriously, how does Pinkie not know?"

"She's oblivious," said Maud

"I guess, even if Sonata DID tell her, we don't even know how Pinkie will react"

"let's just hope she takes it well"

Pinkie's eye dilated. Sonata had a crush...on someone else?

Pinkie's eye filled with a gentle flow of tears as her hair deflated into a flat wave of hair.

"I...I wasn't enough..."

Sonata woke up to a loud bolt of lighting, she looked out the window and saw it was storming outside. She looked down at the floor, but to her surprise, Pinkie wasn't there. Sonata got out of bed and looked around.

"Pinkie? Where are you? Are you grabbing a midnight cake slice?"

Sonata looked everywhere in the house and still no sign of pinkie.

"Where is she? I'm starting to worry about her," said Sonata nervously. Suddenly out of nowhere, she heard a noise of footsteps, and it seemed to be coming from the roof.

Sonata's eyes widen in fear, what could she do? then she looked at the vent, the cover was off!. She grabbed a stepstool, climbed up and began to crawl through the vents.

Sonata found an opening, she crawled out, she instantly regretted it, it was freezing outside, and the rain came down like anvils from the sky, but once Sonata saw Pinkie sitting on the roof, it didn't matter anymore.

"PINKIE?! WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING?!"

Pinkie didn't answer, Sonata could hear the faint whimpers of the girl before her, Sonata over and grabbed Pinkie's arm

"Pinkie, C'mon, you'll die out here!!!"

Pinkie said nothing and just continued to cry.

Sonata turned Pinkie around and held Pinkie's face in her hands.

"Pinkie PLEASE, I may not be a smart person, but I know what hypothermia can do to you, I know your upset for some reason, but please, You NEED to come back inside!"

Pinkie stared at Sonata and sighed.

Sonata finshed fixing the vent cover and went back over to her friend, who was sitting on the bed, wrapped in a soft fluffy towel, a cup of hot cocoa in her hands.

"Pinkie, what were you THINKING?!"

"...You could have told me y'know" said Pinkie after a few minutes

"What?"

"You could have told me you had a crush on someone"

Sonata's eyes widened

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said looking at the ground

"I overheard Maud and Aria"

Sonata growled.

"OOOH, Aria's dead meat when I get my hands on her"

"Friends tell each other EVERYTHING"

Pinkie then looked up at Sonata.

"So...who is it?"

Sonata didn't answer

"Why won't you tell me?" asked Pinkie, who was starting to get a bit annoyed.

Pinkie was met with no response.

"TELL ME" she shouted

"NO," said Sonata

"WHY?! WHY CAN'T YOU TELL ME?! I THOUGHT I WAS YOUR FRIEND!!!"

"YOU ARE!!!"

"THEN WHY?! WHY WON'T YOU TELL ME?!"

"BECAUSE SHE'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME" shouted Sonata angrily

Pinkie's eyes widened as she looked at Sonata, who began to cry.

"I like you okay?! I have since the day you helped me up after adagio pushed me down, but I didn't tell you because you wouldn't understand...Your the only one who ever made me feel this way...I'm sorry I didn't tell you"

Sonata was about to leave the room until Pinkie stopped her, and then hugged her tightly as her hair reinflated

"That's all I ever wanted to hear from you"

Sonata's eyes dilated, but she smiled as her tears became ones of joy and hugged her back.

Aria smirked as she had her ear against the door.

"HAH! Called it, Total lesbians"

"Shouldn't we leave them alone?"

"Fine whatever"

Sonata pulled the covers over her and cuddled next to Pinkie, who kissed her forehead softly

"I love you Pinkie"

"I love you too Sonata"

As the two turned off the lights, they fell asleep in each other's arms.

I love the fact that Maud's lines are just in black instead of an actual color. Anyways, good job. I really liked it, albeit I like all fluff. But still, it was really good.
