King Camelot

T

It's been a while since Twilight and the gang returned from Middle Earth, and they've decided to teach its lore and history at their newly opened School of Friendship, and their students love it! One pony most intrested with Middle Earth is Sunset Shimmer, who has returned to Equestria for a long deserved break. The whole idea of new magic and grand quests fascinates her, and leaves her wishing that she could've been there. And after some unforeseen anomalies with the Dimensional Mirror, she gets her wish.

But something is wrong. Bilbo seems younger, and no one has ever heard of Equestria. It appears that she has not only traveled to Middle Earth, but went back in time as well! Now she must help 13 dwarves and a hobbit slay a dragon to get their home back, all the while more, try to find a way back to Equestria.

What about Fellowship is Magic? It's still not finished yet. I thought someone else is going to adopt that story before continuing on where it left off.

I'm working with him to address the plot that wasn't mentioned in Fellowship is Magic. I half-hope that working with him on this will give him incentive to working on it again.

Ok, I'm going to be honest I'm a bit Hesitant of reading the story part of the reason why I stopped reading "Fellowship of The Ring" was because I felt that the ponies were made too over power in the later chapters, especially when it came to Twilight.

It just made the whole great journey to Mordor seem....I really don't know the word to put it fittingly. Don't get me wrong the story was good from start to middle, but when they got to the possessed king of Rohan was when I lost all interest in the story.

That's the sad truth of it. Which was a shame for me because I was wondering if the author could do this for LotR. Than I would like to see something similar for the Original Star Wars Trilogy.

Sorry for rambling on like that. my point is I really hope you don't make Sunset and Starlight over power in this story. Especially when they meet the dragon, Smaug. That encounter between Bilbo and him was the best part of both the story and the 2nd movie.

Well, you know what I mean?:unsuresweetie:

I'm not like most writers. I don't like to make my characters OP, I don't like for them to have solutions for everything. I already made it impossible for them to be OP by taking away their magic. And they are aware that they traveled through time, so they're going to be careful with what they do and try to stand in the sidelines (In the beginning, at least).

I urge you to stay until they come to the trolls, and then decide if you should abandon ship.

9924413
Well, When you put that way. Alright I'll give this story a chance.:twilightsheepish::twilightsmile:

9924419
I understand your suspiciousness. Those kinds of tropes are something most writers on this site fall prey to, after all.

9924441
Yes, quite right. Not a good habit for an fanfic author. However, I suppose it can't be helped at times, it's part of the learning experience on the road to being good author and storyteller. What you should or should not do in writing a story.

Like I said Friendship of the Ring was good from start to midway. But than the part in Rohan was when I just couldn't take the story seriously anymore. I mean for crying Saruman was one of the major bad guys in LotR, a real threat to Middle-Earth. So for Twilight to essentially steamrolled him the way she did. I just simply say, No. Just no. And stopped reading the story right than and there.

I don't know about the other readers and maybe it's just me. I really I don't know how to put it into words, friend. :applejackconfused::pinkiesad2:

BTW, This story is showing some promise so far.

9924545
I agree on some parts. Twilight was overpowered in later parts of the story. But I wrote that off as one of the advantages of being a royal demigod.

But I think it was balanced off with her failures. She tried to purify the ring with her magic, but failed. She tried to conceal the ring so it's negative effects wouldn't be as great, she failed. Hell, she and her friends used the Magic of Friendship full blast on the Balrog in Moria, and even then, they failed to defeat it.

I believe that characters should have their moments (such as that moment in Rohan), but it needs to be balanced out with failure. After all, failure is the greatest teacher. And that's why I managed to stick around.

Glad your enjoying it so far, the next chapter should come next week at tge latest. It's time for them to go fetch their burglar.

9924561
Well, Yeah. That was one of the reasons why I stay with the story and kept track of it. It was well balance at a certain point and I'm not saying the mane six should have their moment to shine or whatever.

I just don't think Saruman should have been beaten that easy in his 2nd round against Twilight. I mean this was a wizard, who was the chief of wizards and head of the white council. He didn't earn those titles for nothing.

So for him to lost the way he did. I just find it hard to accept that. I guess chalk it up to LotR fan in me.

All in all, that one part left a lot of mix feels for me and not in a good way.

9924589
There's no easy way to say this, but the next chapter has been delayed for a little bit. Stuff IRL, rewatching the movies, rereading the book, figuring out where to place our protagonists in it, has been a bit of a drag. The next chapter should be up by next week, hopefully sooner. Hang in there for me.

9937176
Oh sure no problem. Actually I'm glad to see someone doing actually research on the lore.

9937290
Well, you can't write a crossover fic without basic knowledge about what you're writing about, after all.

9937302
Well, that's more than what I can say about other rookie authors.

9937340
Yes, indeed. But the bright side is, I managed to squeeze in the next chapter. It's been proofread, and all the spelling errors have been corrected. Funny what you can do if you set your mind to it, eh? But don't expect this to be a normal occurrence. I'll try to post weekly or so, but if a chapter is delayed, chances are that it will be a while before it is posted. We got lucky this time, but I don't expect miracles to happen twice in a row.

9938557
No one expects you do that. Just work at your own pace and take it one at a time. Rushing leads to problems with the narrative and leaves unwanted plot holes within the story.

Fanfics are no exception to this, especially when it come to crossover stories and believe me, I have read my share of bad fics. Displaced stories are notorious of this as well.

9938575
While I admire your concern for me, I assure you that I'm fine. I miscalculated a little bit, and the things I were worried about IRL took shorter to handle than I originally thought. But I think I will take your advice and try to balance out my work on it from now on. Thanks for looking out for me.

GOD that "Burp" game!!! Are those guys nuts?? LOL

Loved this chapter. Waiting for more. :)

The fic itself, I think, is excellent. I look forward to continuing.

Summer is almost over, and I'm still waiting...

These things take time. Plus, I'm working on other stories too, and I have a life. Please be patient.

10696256
Like I said, life got in the way. But I'm back and making a schedule so that long haitus's don't happen very often.

So you have returned thank goodness

Yay I was hoping this would return :yay:

Can you continue this please? Also, if you're interested, could you adopt Fellowship is Magic? I REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY miss it. Thank you and keep up the good work!

10916591
I'm working on it. Story writing is hard, especially when their adaptations.

10916777
How is the next chapter going?

10169585

"¡¡¡¡¡BUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRP !!!!!!!"

Sorry

I shall patiently wait for the next chapter because you have caught my interest

I'm doing the best I can, I promise you. Juggling college, writing other stories, rising and dropping incentive to write said stories, you know the drill.

So did he tell you what his plot for Fellowship is Magic was going to be? Like what do the girls do to help with the Battle of Helms Deep, Pelenor Fields, the Black Gate. And how did they get home? And for the love of all that's holy was Twilight ever able to fly again?!

After dinner was done, all the dwarves had gone to work cleaning up after themselves. But they were doing it all wrong, the plates weren't supposed to go there, that wasn't how you used the soap, and that was a doily, not a dishcloth!

"But it's full of holes," Bofur pointed out, a little confused.

Bilbo showed it to him stating, "It's supposed to look like that, it's crochet."

"Oh and a wonderful game it is too," Bofur joked, "If you've got the balls for it."

This earned a few laughs from the other dwarves, but Bilbo was not amused. In fact he was angry beyond belief,

"Bebother and confusticate these dwarves!"

Gandalf, who had witnessed Bilbo's rather inappropriate choice of words, come up to see him, "My dear Bilbo, what on Earth is the matter?"

"What's the matter?" Bilbo sassed him, as if these dwarves would be here without him, "I'm surrounded by dwarves. What are they doing here?"

Gandalf just smiled, witnessing Nori and Bofur playing tug-of-war with a string of sausages, "Oh, they're quite a merry gathering, once you get used to them."

"I don't want to get used to them!" Bilbo hissed, "Look at the state of my kitchen! There's mud trod into the carpet, they pillaged the pantry, I'm not even going to tell you what they've done to the bathroom; they've all but destroyed the plumbing. I don't understand what they're doing in my house!"

At this moment, Ori came in with his plate in hand, a rather innocent look on his face, "Excuse me? I'm sorry to interrupt, but what should I do with my plate?"

"Here ya go, Ori. Give it to me," Fili said as he walked in, taking the plate from Ori's hands. He then threw it to Kili, who then threw it to Bifur, who then started to wash it in the sink.

Starlight, who had walked in at the time, was freaking out, "Excuse me, is that any way to treat your host's belongings?!"

Bilbo had quite agreed with her,"Be careful with that, that's my mother's West Farthing Pottery, it's over a hundred years old!"

But they had either not heard Bilbo, or didn't care, as they continued to throw the plates around like they were basketballs. Starlight and Bilbo tried desperately to stop them, but they were too nimble and too quick for them. Starlight, feeling rather like she was going to explode, grabbed Stygian's Soul Gem (who was resting nearby) and tried to use it to channel her magic so she could catch the plates in midair; nothing happened.

"Why isn't it working?!" Starlight shouted.

"Locked... on... genetic code," Stygian muttered, holding his ice pack closer to his forehead, "Won't... work... for... except... me."

Starlight grunted loudly and tossed the Soul Gem into his lap, before storming off.

Meanwhile, everyone was playing with the forks and knives. Sharpening them, playing swords with them, making rhythmic bumps on the table and the floor. Bilbo was just not amused, half-heartingly accepting that they would not listen to anything he said, "And can you not do that, you'll blunt them!"

"Oh, ya hear that, lads?" Bofur spoke, feigning concern, "He says we'll blunt the knives."

Kili then got a song going, followed by Fili, and soon every dwarf was singing along to it as they cleaned up, even Sunset managed to join in on it, once she got the gist of it. And it went a little something like this:

Blunt the knives, bend the forks
Smash the bottles and burn the corks
Chip the glasses and crack the plates
That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!

Cut the cloth, tread on the fat
Leave the bones on the bedroom mat
Pour the milk on the pantry floor
Splash the wine on every door!

Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl
Pound them up with a thumping pole
When you're finished, if they are whole
Send them down the hall to roll

They had a real rhythm going. They sang in tune with their work, the plates were all thrown to each other, Bombur cleaned the plates by eating the leftovers, Balin simply catapulted the plates with his own, doing it in time. Sunset caught the ones that they didn't, tossed them to the nearest dwarf to get them back into the flow of things, and little Ori was in charge of putting them away when they were cleaned. This lasted for a few minutes, and when it was all done, they finished their song with one last big:

That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!

When both Bilbo and Starlight walked into the room, what they found was unexpected to say the least. The table was clean, the trash was either thrown away or eaten by Bombur, the plates and silverware were all stacked and ready to be put away, and everyone was just chilling about, laughing at the look of their faces.

Starlight was impressed, they may have been terrible house-guests, but they definitely knew how to clean up after themselves, Bilbo happened to be thinking the exact same thing.
