Yes. This is good. This pleases me.
Well, this takes something that was mentioned back in Twilight's School to a whole new level. We thought it was just Figuratively those Ravens referred to Pebble as a Child of Terra Firma due to being an Earth Pony and the abilities her special talents give her. Now we know they were referring to her as such in the LITERAL Sense.

As for Rainbow Dash, I needed two pegasus ponies. When I began planning this, I knew Daring Do would be one of them. Rainbow became a logical choice because of her ties to Daring Do. The more I build up on the idea, the more it made sense. Rainbow was there as Commander Hurricane in the Hearth's Warming episode. Her history and Skyreach's history connect.
So I made a lot of plans, and began constructing story framework. To give a test run of how the characters interacted, I wrote How to Win Enemies and Influence Ponies. That was the test run for Skyreach. The test drive, to see if the characters had chemistry. I figured that if that failed, I would just scrap Skyreach and try something else. Around November, I was starting to finalise my plans for Skyreach, and everything seemed good. More than good. Rainbow MADE that story work.
With Rainbow secured into place, major elements of the story began to write themselves. I can't explain it.
Gods can be right dicks when they put their minds to it
Huh. The weird magic killing stuff wasn't the centaurs. Damn. I'm usually not that far off. Must be losing my touch
*whines with anticipation*
So Tarnished Teapot is actually a reincarnated Alicorn, or is it that he's merely a vessel for her power? Curious either way...
So, is the font choice here telling me that Terra is in "god mode" or rather she is, or is channeling, the zebra of death that Flicker met? I'm not quite sure how to interpret this other than one god(*) is angry at another god(*)
* - For some definition of 'god'.
7990719
Oh look, relevant words. How convenient.
7990721
God-mode engaged.
The good thing about the Weedverse is that for every question that is answered there are 10 more new ones. There is always more to discover.
7990723 Where Terra Firma isn't just a fancy term for "the earth."
What do you do when an avatar of death comes and tells you to abandon all hope? Do you...
A) abandon all hope and wallow in despair?
B) let slip the coils of sanity and reason?
C) tell the guy to go eat a pile?
Tarnish always did strike me as the 'option C' type.
Heh. It seems so obvious in hindsight, not that I wasn't expecting something too different than that. Still on the edge of my seat. :D

After that snippet and this chapter, seeing as how Pebble was the result of the destruction of the crown and how her parents were changed by that event, her potential now scares the hell out of me.
On the one hoof, we could make light of the fact that if Sumac ever forgets their (most probable) wedding anniversary he may not live to see the next day.
But, on the other hoof, it seems to me that has the potential to put a few major players in their place should she see fit. And by 'players' I'm thinking Tirek level or possibly even bigger. And by 'place' I mean annihilated.

If you chose to, go and re-read Princess Twilight Sparkle's School for Fantastic Foals, chapter 113.
It takes on new meaning.
What's the font you used?
7990769
Sᴍᴀʟʟᴄᴀᴘs.
7990762
*re-reads 113*
Yup. Still scared. Lots of potential in that little package. I'm so glad she's got Maud's temperament. However, she's also her father's daughter, which means when she loses it, it's going to be past time to vacate the continent.
Chronos, Terra, Pale, Lima...does that list also include Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Twilight?
Also there goes my theory! Unless it's still compatible.
Either way, very exciting.
7990737 From those words and this chapter I piece together she is a god-tier alicorn like Pale in this chapter who gave herself to the earth as a sort of life-source for the planet. She is the earth, the earth is her. They are one and the same now. Tarnished is a reincarnated Centaur that was born the wrong race (it would have been better for him to be an Earth Pony or an Alicorn since they're part Earth Pony), and is the highest druid and champion for this alicorn.
Me personally, I wonder the relationship between Pale and Lima Bean. Especially with Flicker being Lima Bean's champion.
7990786
Pale will be showing up in The Mask Makes the Pony.
Also, Tarnish isn't a reincarnated centaur. Maledico's plan failed.
Okay, Celestia's actions make more sense now. Fair enough.
You know, the worst part of ancient beings is how utterly full of themselves they are. They think too highly of their own judgement and viewpoint. Never cared all that much for people like that. I find myself glad that Pale was made to shut up, at least for now. Don't know what to think about Terra Firma. Seems cool for now, but who knows what's going through the minds of those types.
I'm actually glad Rainbow Dash is here. Her brashness and energy help maintain the spirits of a group stuck in a desolate place. Plus, I don't know if you noticed, but the Quesadilla story really made me like her Weedverse counterpart. Don't know if you picked up on that, I may have been a bit too subtle for you.
7990771
I'm aware of the feature, but is that what it's actually named?
7990874
It is called Smallcaps.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_caps
I still don't know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop...
7990895
Three. No more than three, according to my anonymous source that likes licking.
7990792 I thought the part that failed was Tarnished not being an alicorn. Then again Tarnished is far too self-aware to be what I think Maledico was going for. Tarnished just inherited the job and I think the power over poison joke from him? Feels a little Last Airbender to me only Tarnished doesn't have the whole connection to past lives thing.
7990792 I wondered what Sumac was referring to about Pale being defeated or whatever it was. Now I'm wondering how Maud has been altered too besides Tarnish. I'm guessing Sumac's love of cemeteries will have a connection to Pale maybe too?
7990699 Hadn't said anything yet, but wondered if the automatons were merely trapped in this dead-zone as well, not the cause, whether a roll was still played by centaurs I'm not sure. Something like this happened in 'The Five Doctors' back in the 80's. Whole stack of different adversaries trapped together battling to death.
7990909
Pale seems to like hate History hides it while leaving anyone who comes looking for it to their deaths while Sumac enjoys history and would probably share any history he learns with those who also wish to learn it. Granted, Skyreach is probably an extreme case, but whose to say there aren't other places like this Pale is keeping as a deadzone.
Such a deep deep chapter. Chronos time, Pale death. So Tarnished is more than the Heliphant of the druids he is the embodiment of earth itself that does change things and explains a little why his powers are so great and not in his control at times
7991008 That almost makes them perfect adversaries.
I'm guessing Lima is Death and Pale is the Afterlife? Or Lima is the act of dying and Pale is death itself?
Terra Firma, The Alicorn of wood
7990785 The list doesn't include Celestia, Luna and Cadance, these creatures, whatever they are, are above the Alicorns. I've been calling them the Powers That Be, as the trope seems to apply.
Including this chapter, the known Powers are:
Lima Bean: The psychopomp. Flicker Nicker is her champion.
Pale: Guardian of the Realm of the Dead, no known champion.
Chronos: Very little is known, but probably Time judging by his name.
Terra Firma: The earth, Tarnish is her champion.
"Magic": Name unknown. Twilight Sparkle is their champion.
They don't appear to be one family, as the siblng relationship between Pale and Chronos is notable, but exactly what they are is unclear.
I...I did not see that coming! VERY cool. I love shit like this.
7991316
It would give "Morning Wood" A Whole new meaning for Tarnished.
7990888
Yes, I KNOW that, but is that it's NAME?
Times New Roman
Verdana
Calibri
Tahoma
Frontier
all font NAMES.
Sorry if I sound short, but I just want to know if I can find that font somewhere. I could put it to good use.
7990692
And jerks like Zeus never got their mind out of their testicles...
7992054
I don't know for certain. The wiki page mentions several fonts.

I am currently thinking in terms of food because I have allowed myself to become obnoxiously hungry.
That said, this chapter was very savory for me - like eating a sushi dinner after you've had the cheesecake dessert, rather than before.
i have caught up for now.
still feels weird to have a setting with active gods that do things.
So here's a disturbing question: What happens if this Terra Firma decides to do something Tarnish doesn't agree with? And why do I get the feeling we're going to find out, whether we really want to or not?
7993557
Eh, she's not into that sort of thing. Mostly, she just sleeps and trusts that Tarnish will do all of the right things.
... more gods? Damnit!
Oh yes, if there is a god you don't fuck with it is the one of the earth, they care not for people, but for the land.
Wow. Skyreach was sealed by this Pale fellow and he sends nightmares of this place to Celestia to dissuade its discovery.
And what of this Terra? Is it another alicorn considering Pale recognise it or is it a being beyond our understanding? But that was awesome moment of Terra possessing Tarnish.
