This is the tale of one named One Corn, who was the first in Equestria to have a horn. Listen to the tale, if you so wish. If you don't like it, well, the sea has more fish.

Unrelated to Alternative Night. This one will have (possibly) quite a few chapters, and hopefully it will be updated semi-regularly. I hope you all enjoy it, and give me as much feedback as desired. Hold back nothing.

Give me ANY and ALL feedback you have. I see it as critical to the success and continuation of this piece.

A very interesting premise. This has the hallmarks of a great fic in the making, and I intend to see this through.

Nice story, but one question: How is he lifting the bags? I haven't heard anything of a pointy growth on his head.

Stories about long-forgotten history are fun, and this seems like an interesting start. Kind of short to say much else about it at the moment, though, so I'll wait and see for now.

Considering it's a random occurrence at this point, his horn has yet to form. With some time, stuff'll happen, things'll come in, becalm yourself.

EDIT: And thanks for the comments and notes, all!

Hm, almost forgot about this one.

So his parents tried to sell him into slavery, huh? That's kinda rude. That guy might want a refund, though, if he's still alive.

Sorry, I keep forgetting it's hidden away. :twilightsheepish:

The burst of air snapped his ribs and pierced his lungs, not to mention the wall of flesh that he hit. Plus he wouldn't be able to use the coins anyways, seeing as how his jaw's broken. :pinkiehappy:

Eh, he sounds like a tough guy, tell him to walk it off and take it like a stallion.

:rainbowlaugh: Very good point indeed, Mr. Periphery! However, due to authoristical difficulties, his state of being seems to have simply vanished from any more events in the timeline. How...strange... :pinkiecrazy:

Somehow, this makes me want to assume that Zecora is the zebra version of Celestia, and is actually thousands of years old, or however far back into history this reaches.

Hmm, not sure what else to say. I guess for feedback, I can point out that those two paragraphs in the middle seem much more rushed than the rest of it, but I guess his trek through the forest wasn't an important detail.

Not sure how it took me a week to read a 1202-word update. Okay, maybe I do know... I have so many stories I'm meaning to read, I have like 25 Fimfiction tabs open right now, plus the hundreds in my update and Read Later lists.

Well, seeing as how Zecora is the only zebra we see in the show(that I know of), we don't know much of how the rest of them are. She could be the only one, or there could be thousands still out there in another area of Equestria or another country altogether.

Besides, if there are no unicorns yet, how can alicorns exist? :scootangel:

Thank you, I'll do my best to reconcile that in the future.

It's just fine that you took that long, as long as you got to it. This was, I believe, the longest amount of time between chapter publishings anyway, so just knowing that some people still read and comment on it is fine with me. No need to place mine on top of your list of intruiging things, no matter how flattering it may be. :pinkiehappy:

Yeah, that's largely why I added that bit about however far back in history this story reaches, since this could potentially be like 100,000 years before Celestia or something. A lot of people like to imagine Celestia and Luna as goddesses, sometimes even saying that they created Equestria, but what if it's actually Zecora who's the one? She can use magic, even though she doesn't have a horn; she's the only zebra we've ever seen, and we don't know any more about her origins than the princesses; she has a spirally sun for a cutie mark; as a zebra, she has a black and white body, which is a lot like various duality themes; she lives in the Everfree Forest, which is basically an untouched wilderness; and she's just generally all wise and stuff. So maybe she's like an Earth-mother goddess type deal who created their world, and just keeps a low profile.

It's so unlikely it's pretty much impossible, but it's still an interesting thought.

And about the other thing, it's sort of that the more things I want to do, the less I manage to actually do any of them, and I can't seem to keep up with anything. At this point, I just kinda hit things at random, hoping to whittle down the pile a little.

Ah, that sounds fairly feasible indeed. Sadly, I'm not so sure it'll make it into this tale, but I may just ask you, if it fits somewhere else, if I may use it later on.

Best of luck in your whittling, good sir!

2430555

Sure, feel free to use the idea. The odds of me ever doing anything more with it than a stray comment here and there are probably even lower than the chances that it's actually true in canon Equestria. And even if I did have specific plans for the concept, I'd still say go ahead and use it, if it fits into something for you.

2430613

If I do, I'll be sure to let you know. Thank you very much, sir, and have a wonderful day!
