I agree. This needs to become a full story with the whole family. The royals and the changlings. The two families could become friends and help each other's race. The changlings for protection and services. The ponies for "food" and seport. The children could become childhood friends maybe. This is all just food for thought. You could do this as a sequel or start a new story with a similar beginning and then do this.
