Applejack and Rainbow Dash believed in the magic of friendship. Yeah it does seem a bit random, Twilight's reaction to the couple.

Hmm, an interesting first chapter. However, I would perhaps prefer a little more into Twilight's reasons for striking out, but perhaps that could be included in another chapter or is an intended plot device.
In regards to some spacing and paragraph issues. It is generally better to separate any character speaking to a different paragraph. It draws attention to the speaker. Other than that, I liked giving this chapter a read through.
