If you've never read the book, I'd recommend it.
A hint to help you: when utilizing a character's inner monolog a better and easier to understand format for the thoughts would look like this:
'Of course it’s up there,' her internal voice echoed in a biting way, 'You would have frozen to death by now if it wasn’t.'
Finished the chapter. Very bleak and good descriptions. The scene on the farm with the barnyard nearly made ill.
