For as long as they may stay in their hiding spot, they may never know the near-extinction of alicorns. They may never know that Discord had been placed in stone, and would no longer kill alicorns. They will sit, and they will hide... until the younger sister cannot hide any longer.

Seriously though, you have a pretty interesting story here and I want to see where you intend to take the plot. War of the Discord? That should be, like more than a thousand years ago - I mean, Luna went nuts a thousand years ago, so the war must have been even further back.
Which means the modern world should be all sorts of confusing for the sisters. Everything is probably a lot more advanced than they have ever known, like picking a man from medieval times and putting him in present time. I look towards the sisters coming to gripes with the modern times.
Oh, one note though - don't use acronyms like "ASAP" and similar stuff during narrative - it's fine if a character is saying that (like some sergeant yelling at his troops "Get there ASAP!"), but don't shorten words when you are narrating, it makes the writing seem lazy.
