A Heroic Journey is defined as a basic template for all great stories, and these stories create the hero and the villains.
But what if you are a pony escaping being the hero?
This is a journey not about making a hero or a villain. It is about a boy from another world who gives up everything, even his own species, to be something other then what he was.
It is a journey in which an immature dragon is trying to figure out who he is: the fearsome dragon of his blood and bone, or the pony in a dragon's skin he was reared to be,
It is a journey of an arrogant royal who is sent out into the world to teach him to see something else beyond his own self.
It is a journey of a gatherer looking for a more permanent solution to a dangerous tradition.
it is a journey of a disenchanted flier looking for something beyond stale competition.
it is a journey of all these souls brought together and made heroes whether they want it or not.
*Episodes will be altered, shifted around, or not even mentioned at all. I am manely focusing on the above mentioned and the Mane 6 will have little prominent roles in the narrative.
**Because someone complained, though it would have mattered not anyway, it is not a HP/Spike, they may be paired later one with others, and there might be some casual flirting and sauciness from the characters, but this is primarily a journey fic.
Well now, this does look promising. And I can't say that I've never wondered why Harry didn't just run away from it all, especially in Goblet of Fire when he pretty much only had one person on his side.
Interesting new story. I look forward to seeing how it differs from your other one. One thing I've noticed is there is a distinct lack of a description for Pony Harry Trotter, I can only assume it's intentional.

5813321 yep it was intentional. i was going to continue in with more, but the only way to get the fic past moderation was to post what i had so far for the second chap. I am almost done with the third which will have his description in it and it should be up within a few days or so.
hint: a certain cutley rakish individual shall make his appearance.
Spike has been exceptionally friendly. I'm actually rather impressed with him here.
Harry on the other hand has been acting rude. I won't call him a jerk because almost everything he's done and said has been in ignorance or shock, but it hasn't been Harry at his best, certainly. He's certainly been starting at the bottom of the barrel ability-wise, compared to Dusk from the other story who was fully integrated come chapter 1. Dusk in that story was older than this Harry, and this Harry is significantly younger that I think he is younger than the Mane Six here.
I can't help but wonder about the pacing. Arrived at Dusk is really fast paced, but this one could be slow (days at a time), depending on how it goes.
5817672 glad you noticed. I Am experimenting with two approachs to hp and mlp. He by the way is definitely younger then the mane 6 probably the same age or a bit older then spike. his rudeness is a combination of the stress of his situation, and the hoof in mouth syndrome that many of us had at that age. Harry in cannon was a actually a bit rude at times.
I don't think I've seen anyone do an insertion mid-dragon quest. It's actually a pretty interesting place to put it. I like your Spike as well. There are the seeds for the two being able to relate well to each other, assuming they can get past the rocky start, as well.
