New living arrangements

Twilight slowly awoke to find herself in her bedchamber with Celestia dabbing a wet cloth to her head.

“Mnnn what happened?” She asked groggily before shooting up into a sitting position, “oh no! The meeting! I didn’t upset Prince Mosshorn did I?! Oh this is terrible!”

“Twilight. Twilight!” Celestia said calming her student, “everything is fine, Prince Mosshorn wasn’t upset in the least in fact he took it rather well. He had to leave to take care of things back home but Prince Whitetail is in the room across from here. We all agreed that he would live here with you and Spike to get to know you better.”

“He’s living here?! I barely know him! And the fact I’m supposed to marry somepony I just met?!” Twilight shouted putting her head in her hooves.

“I know this is sudden Twilight, but please try to get to know him. Who knows maybe you and Whitetail have more in common than you think?” Celestia said before standing up and letting her know she had to return to Canterlot before exiting the room and finally the castle. Twilight slowly got out of her bed and walked to the door before stopping and thinking ‘this is ridiculous. Why am I marrying somepony without even my permission?’ before exiting the room and slowly walking by the door to the room Whitetail was in and she stopped again when she heard Singing.

Twilight slowly and quietly opened the door during the song to see vines with beautiful flowers growing along the walls of the room as Whitetail sang as if his voice alone caused the plants to grow from magic. She never had even heard of magical singing before and was amazed at the sight. As the song ended she cleared her throat which caused Whitetail to jump a bit before turning around and see Twilight standing in the doorway and he blushed beat red and looked to the floor.

“I-I’m sorry. Was I too loud?” He asked nervously.

“Not at all. That song was beautiful. Where did you learn it? And how did you make the plants grow by singing? I’ve never heard of singing magic” Twilight asked quickly summoning a parchment and a pen with an ink well to write down everything.

“W-Well, my mother taught me the song. And as far as the ‘singing magic’ as you call it I’m the only deer that can manipulate plant life through singing. Most deer can manipulate plants through their antlers much like how unicorns can perform spells but I can’t. I guess it has something to do with this.” He explained as he turned to show his side and Twilight couldn’t help but gasp.

“You-You have a cutie mark?! But how?” Twilight asked astounded. It was true. On both sides of Whitetail’s backside were two cutie marks of a curved sword behind a puzzle piece shaped game cartridge with a cross on the sticker.

“My mother is a unicorn. She met my father while on a expedition to the kingdom of the deer to learn more about our culture and history.” Whitetail explained.

“Amazing! I’ve never heard of another species gaining a cutie mark before!” Twilight said writing everything he said down. Whitetail could only blush and shift his forelegs in embarrassment. It was then that Whitetail’s stomach made itself known to both of them.

“Oh I’m so sorry! You must be famished! Come on to the kitchen I’ll have Spike make you something.” Twilight apologized and led the way. As they walked Twilight couldn’t help but think ‘maybe this won’t be so bad’.

I like the idea, but I still think this is way too fast, and, well, kinda forced.

Like, I expected an entire chapter of Twilight arguing with Celestia about why they decided to drop such a bomb in a letter. That sort of thing is important, especially when it comes to royalty. And come on, this is Celestia. Living 1000+ years and didn't think about how this would affect her once faithful student?

I look forward to the next chapters, but I still think it's rushed.

Actually this is kinda Spot on for most "Medieval" Arranged Marriages. Often the Wife wouldn't know their Husband until they met. Most betrothed individuals were not often involved sadly. I do agree, it does sound kind of rushed, but it may be a first story for them as well. I hope to see more chapters. I feel the Deer are under used, since they only showed up in the Comics, which are not considered in universe.

That’s actually how I intended it. It’s a kind of “see if It works out as the story progresses.” Type thing. I intend for the two to learn more about each other and eventually find common ground thus resulting in mutual love.

It’s ok thank you for your kindness. As someone with asd and depression and anxiety when it comes to my own work such as this story I tend to be very critical of myself and when I hear negative opinions on stuff I worked hard on it makes it worse. I’m 30 yo and feel my life creatively is going nowhere. Been a brony since 2011 and had loads of ideas for my yt channel and fimfiction and such but now just seems like I wasted a lot of time and energy but I’m glad you are enjoying my work even though I haven’t updated in years.

But I have seen have toxic it can be, so that you dared put your stories out there for people to read I wouldn't call that wasted, but rather a learning experience, and commendable 😁

But you miss 100% of the shots you don't take 😁

And I know the struggles of mental illness, got OCD, adhd, dyslexic, and winter depression, it have not always been easy, and i had a few close calls.
But I have learned to love myself and that was not easy 😊

And while your story might not get updated or finished I still enjoyed it 😁
