I guess on balance I mostly like this story, but I feel like it isn't anywhere as near as well-developed as it ought to be. The revelations are made thick and fast (which is forgiveable given the context and style, I suppose), and you barely have time to absorb one before we're off to the next tragedy.

Props for the opening paragraph being genuinely unsettling and drawing you right in, however.
