On the morning of June 6th 1944, Twilight Sparkle takes part in one of the most famous battle of the 20th century, D-Day. But rather than storming the bloody beaches of Omaha, she takes part in the treacherous battle at Utah beach and the cliffs above. Tagging along with the men of the US Army 2nd Ranger Battalion, Twilight will confront the horrors of war and the bravery and sacrifice of America's greatest soldiers as they charge the beach. Feel the waves crash on the landing craft and experience the heat of battle of the invasion. Feel the fear as Twilight climbs almost vertical cliffs with German bullets whizzing by her, and bear witness to one of D-Day's other great battles: The Battle of Pointe du Hoc.

Anyways, this was an amazing story! I didn't know much about it until I read this! Keep up the amazing work and stay awesome, mate! :raritywink:

This story has humans in it, I suggest adding a human tag.

Unless everyone is a pony. In that case it's fine.

Interesting, but you could have fleshed this out a little more. More specifically once the Rangers made it to the top of Pointe du Hoc and found it's guns were missing, they still had to FIND and DESTROY them. Few of us Americans realize today just how close D-Day was too becoming a total disaster if those guns went into action firing on Utah and Omaha Beaches among other unexpected surprises. Also Pointe du Hoc is not part of Utah Beach, it is a spit rock outcrop about six-stories high between Utah and Omaha Beach and by coincidence, an ideal spot for artillery to fire on the American landing beaches. Sorry if it sounds like I'm lecturing but I am a lot like Twilight when comes to military history.

The guns were set back aways, located in an apple grove (dont tell AJ apple trees were hiding deat machines). Two sergeants (names to be posted)(yes I actually have the names) found a trail and followed it to the guns. The Germans, apparently, were not maning the guns amd were else were. Fearing being spotted and caught, they snuck to the guns and put termite grenades into the firing mechanism, barrel and elevation&traverse gears.

Wait a minute, Pointe Du Hoc was secured on June 8 1944! You forgot about the German counter attack and everything!

Hello everybody.
i just wanted to thank you for reading my short story in such short time. i now know my stories WILL be read and not be ignored thus will inspire me to write some more. anyway thanks again. i do want to clarify a few things. when i wrote this story i had the goal of writing and posting it by June 6th. so i had written it in a short clipped fashion to make the deadline ( but like all major military plans, it looks good on paper but not on the ground). make no mistake, i know my history and i know all about the invasion. even if i didn't know, i would have researched the battle just to get an idea of what happened. some of you have noticed the lack of facts or didn't elaborate on key events of the day. i did this for a reason of speed. had i written it event to event this story would still be on my desktop catching dust. once again i appreciate the feedback guys, its important to me. thanks again.
