I see now.
They had the same numbers of males and females because they used magic to turn the excess females into males.

Well, just reading through and I'm noticing some grammatical stuff. I'm not going to offer editorial services as I have school to focus on, but here's what I've noticed just reading through so far:

First paragraph after the "Damn cat" line has a major run-on sentence, just break it up at "and this"
Next paragraph is missing a space.

All that I noticed on my first, rather distracted read. other than that, me gusta.
