I was originally going to have the release of the film in this chapter, but so much happened that I had to put it off. You'll definitely see it next time, though, whenever that is.
This chapter was a lot of fun to write, and I hope you enjoy reading it.
The film that proves Rarity is nothing but a whorse.

It was very sweet, nice and awkward but totally believable. Excellent installment!
Am I the only one who winces or gags at any of the romance scenes between twi and rarity? don't get me wrong, they have some sweet scenes here and there but I can't shake how much they hurt spike. I hope I'm also not the only one who wants something to come biting them in the ass for this.
3763101 Ahh, the ages-old dilemma of Spike's dating life. He's nearly as old as Twi and in this particular example she is well of the age of consent given that we know Rarity is. That marks him as what, mid- to late-teens in age? That transitional period when the young male (or female) wants to explore love, but parents ever so staunchly say no.
A relevant for you, assuming it was intended, for writing very well for us a clear picture of Twilight's objections, and yet not making it perfectly clear whether she's concerned pragmatically or as a mother figure, because she herself doesn't know. That's going to be the real hurdle here, and while she can certainly count on support along the way, ultimately she alone must come to terms with what she feels and how to act on it.
I do hope for Spike's sake, as well as literally everypony else's, that she doesn't have a Lesson Zero grade freak-out over it. I mean, from a narrative sense I can certainly see the merit of such drama, and I definitely see it as plausible, but... All adult situations aside, I have virtually no disconnect between the ponies as they're written here and them as they are in canon. As such, I have the same sorts of hopes and worries for them here--and no one likes to see ponies get hurt, even when mending is just around the corner.
I did not have fun reading this chapter. I had a Party Cannon grade blast reading this chapter. Eagerly awaiting the next!

I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later.

I don't personally wince or gag at it at all, it seems awkward because we the audience knows that Spike and Rarity hooking up was not gonna happen and knew it never was gonna in that stead. And even more so that Twilight and Rarity hooked up together despite knowing the consequences of basically rejecting Spike. It works out in the end though, because even though Twilight, for all intensive purposes took Rarity from Spike metaphorically, now there is no risk of Twilight taking yet another of Spike's treasured cupcakes. Even better, Pinkie's baking them, and it shows that she is more than happy to provide Spike with cupcakes that she personally made.
Plus there is lessing loss of pain because time is a great healer. Spike's had the opportunity to actually start hanging around with someone that actually likes him back. And it seems more natural. I'm truly enjoyed that both Spike and Pinkie have said that they are just gonna take it like ear, and that for the time being, they really like what they have.
Probably the only thing here is that Spike basically gave up his chance for Rarity because in his words "I knew I didn't have a chance at Rarity in the first place, but I want this to happen for you", and it's a stark contrast to basically us constantly seeing Spike trying his damndest to woo Rarity with little to no success or even advancement. That's probably what's bothering you.
Also, the confrontation between Pinkie and Twilight----no offense to Twilight, but she's going after this all wrong. The whole scene seems more like Twilight is attempting to shame Pinkie for actually starting to have feelings for Spike in roughly the same way that Spike had feelings for Rarity before reality had to take a size 16 steel-toe up Spike's nuts and see Rarity start going steady with somepony else. Pinkie has a good point despite Twilight's good yet poorly executed intentions: It's up to Spike and Pinkie to deal with the aftermath if they did start dating, not Twilight.
In a related vein, it's roughly the same thing that Rarity's admitting to Twilight about it. Basically what are the reactions that someone like Rarity would engage in somewhat controversial activities...like starring in a pornographic film.
With that said, Her concerns are sound, in particular worrying about differences in species and potential age. Personally, I think Twilight's harking too much on Spike being a "baby" dragon. For all we know, Spike's at the age of consent already, and he's just considered a baby because of his age relative to dragons. It never explicitly says anything about the age. I can definitely see Spike as at least 18 (for all you whiny people that are squicky about it, plus that covers why he could not drink the hard cider from a few chapters previous. 18, not 21.) If I didn't know better, Twilight's reactions are starting to sound a bit like how everyone reacted to Rarity's spread---and just like they did before, Twilight does not truly understand. Plus obviously near the end of the chapter, both Pinkie and Spike wanted to know exactly what they were going into with this upgrade, and surprisingly both of them are taking it more maturely than Twilight.
PINKIExSPIKE YAYAYA loved reading this chapter its better than I hoped it would be and Cmon Twilight leave Spike and Pinkie alone. Pinkie and Spike will be fine
Looks like this is going in the PinkieSpike group.
3763557 I agree with you there. I can see where she is coming from she is going about it wrong. And it's a problem Pinkie and Spike will be more than happy to deal with when the time comes. It also brings up the question of what Spike is going to do. The guy is too smart and mature in this story to go the CMC or anyone their ages and unless Twilight is okay with him leaving to find a dragoness Spike is more or less stuck being alone for a good long while. It seems like a dick move in that aspect. And both her and Rarity will have to face something pretty close pretty soon too. If the two of them can handle it why not Spike and Pinkie?

Sometimes I wonder who is really raising who---is it Twilight raising Spike, or sometimes is it Spike raising Twilight? I tell you, there are countless times that Twilight would be completely lost w/o Spike to be able to take a measured, if sarcastic, and sane way to solve problems. And this potential problem seems to be another example of "Spike's already thinking about this, why hasn't Twilight yet" syndrome.
It's basically happening again---Spike is already well-rehearsed in crushing on another, whereas Twilight was essentially clueless. Spike knows how to get things situated (at a cost to himself) to benefit Twilight, if just for the simple action for wanting to do good to his roommate/family. And let's admit it, Twilight would have never made a move on Rarity at all if it wasn't for Spike.
3763978 Amen to that. When it comes to having a crush and the feelings that come with it Spike has a lot of experience. And without Spike Twilight would probably have another melt down overthinking everything. He knows how to get his gems in a row and how things could turn if he and his crush do get together. The only thing new to him is his crush actually liking someone back.
3763309 Oh come on. Hasn't Rarity's ass already taken enough? *rimshot*
I would say that Spike from the show has a minimum age of 12. Twilight hatched him in order to get into kindergarten, which would put her some where in the 3-6 year old range at the time of hatching. Twilight is now an adult that is probably 18-22 years old, which puts Spike between 12 and 19 years old. I think referring to Spike as a baby is a little unfair, especially when he is shown to be more resistant to irrational meltdowns than The Six. He has some fears that may seem childish, but I know people who are older than me who will flip their shit at the sight of a bug.
The other thing is, dragons appear to require a hoard in order to grow, and Spike does not have a hoard. Yet. Pinkie may count as a part of a hoard if the relationship works out. The growth caused by the hoard may be influenced by the perceived value of the contents of the hoard.
You know, I've never enjoyed Spike x Rarity shipping or stories.
Not that I'd ever downvote one or be a dick to someone for that reason, but I've just never personally meshed with Sparity.
However I thought the Spike and Pinkie stuff was really quite sweet. I mean, she and spike are the most child-like of the main characters so logic dictates they'd probably make a better couple than Spike or Rairty.
Plus it was nice to see Pinkie stick up for her and Spike's right to be together.
This really has evolved from the original premise and I'm enjoying it a lot, actually a lot more interested to see where Spike and Pinkie go than the aftermath of Rarity's 'Art Film'.
That was awesome I think I like this ship but I want to read more about Twilight and Rarity. As for the story you need to kind of get back to the original plot It has been about 4 chapters and it has deviated from Rarity and Twilight Don't get me wrong I love the other ships happening here I look forward to the next chapter I WANT MOAR SOON! If that is alright with you
3788810 Twilight and Rarity are definitely the center of focus in the next chapter, which hopefully will be coming soon. I get back on point in the next chapter, too.
