Twilight is used to getting texts before bed. These ones are just a bit different than she is used to.

Tempest Shadow is bored. She only knows how to fight, but it's a skill which Equestria doesn't need at the moment. So, she's just been getting by with odd jobs and black, unsweetened coffee.

Till one day, after finishing a really odd job, she discovers a little passion that she didn't even knew she had.

I hate not being able to sleep. You lie there, staring at the inside of your own eyelids and waiting, but it seems like morning never comes. Nothing to do but stare at the walls or think about all the stuff you're usually too busy for. Just be alone in the dark and quiet with your thoughts, pondering existence and history.

All that pondering would be easier if it weren't for that air-headed twerp snoring next to me.

Vinyl's all but dropped out, but somehow she manages to hang on to a passing grade. Most of her motivation has to do with a certain Octavia, her best friend (inexplicably) and the fact that it's the best place to hang out with her. Vinyl loves seeing her at school and chilling while they do homeowork, but sometimes she just wants to hang out on her own terms, you know? Do something that's not, well, kinda lame. Or something. PBR isn't lame, right? Well, it is, but Vinyl is destitute and the convenience store down the street sells them at a bit for a pint... All's good that starts good. She's pretty sure that's how that goes.

The last thing Twilight expected to find waiting for her in her library was Gilda. Even more surprised was that the griffon had come to see her, trying to make amends with Rainbow Dash and save their friendship.

Twilight, the number one expert in friendship, is more then willing to help. The last thing she expected to happen was to find herself getting closer to Gilda with each passing day, or that the griffon would share her feelings.
