Magic is finicky and hard to control, at best.
So what about portal magic? Possibly the only thing that is weirder than regular magic.
Why was Twi a teen, when she was very clearly in her twenties, or college age.
If the portal can... de-age, for a lack of a better term...

Could it age a certain Pony, up? And keep her well enough for four years? Let her clothing survive? Jeep her hair right?

It's been a few weeks since the Fall formal and Halloween is right around the corner, while she is still not well liked around the school; Sunset Shimmer still makes an effort to help prepare for the schools Halloween party and Trick or Treat contest. Of course a certain 'great and powerful' magician wants to make things difficult not to mention her literal inner demon that still lingered from the Fall Formal trying to push her into doing something regrettable.

But she was a changed girl and she would prove it by making this the best Halloween night ever...hopefully.

In the wake of Camp Everfree and the latest in a long line of raging she-demons, Sunset’s dreams lead her down a familiar path of memories. She’s never been one to pass up an opportunity; it’s high time to ask a question that’s been bothering her since the Friendship Games.

That’s the plan, anyway. One of the many problems with seeking wisdom from demons is that you get far more than what you wanted to know.

A short one-shot with snippets of story and elements of a darker AU based around if Demon Shimmer hadn't been defeated and dumb magic rules I made up just for this exact AU were in play.

Written during the Iron Author Writing 2023 Competition. The one I submitted for the competition lacked all my funny italics because I had to paste it in from libreOffice haha. (I have since realized I should have pasted in the chapter here first and then into the competition, but c'est la vie).

Twilight is anxious. Her evil half, Midnight Sparkle, lives on in her head, and she fears for her return, should she falter in her control of her mind. Sunset Shimmer truly believes that the evil portion of her, Supernova Shimmer, is gone forever. Both of their worst fears come to pass when a new student. Winter Haze joins Canterlot High, and all hell breaks loose.

Canterlot High is saved and Twilight leaves Sunset Shimmer in the capable hands of her newfound friends.

Except that now that Principal Celestia and Principal Luna know that Sunset came from another world, they have a lot of questions about where her parents are and just where she has been living for the past few years.

Twilight (Sci) Sparkle enrolled into Canterlot Highschool not long after the Fall Formal incident.

On the surface, the school appears normal; but within these walls lies a dark secret of one student, 'Sunset Shimmer' whom disappeared after an unfortunate "accident".

No one dares speak of her name, in fear of incurring her wrath that still remains. Is this legend true? Or will Twilight prove there's no such thing as a demon?

Twilight Sparkle was seven years old when she was saved by an angel, 10 years old when she first attempted to go grave robbing, and 13 years old when she successfully summoned her first demon.

Shining Armor was 13 years old when his sister was nearly killed, 16 years old when he caught his little sister's attempt at grave robbing, and 19 years old when his sister summoned a demon from the pits of hell.

Cadance was 13 years old when she met Shining Armor in detention, 16 years old when she tried to confess to Shining Armor, and 19 years old when her boyfriend's sister summons a demon.

Sunset Shimmer doesn't remember how old she is. She knows that she is the last demon, summoned by Twilight Sparkle to make a pact that will tear reality itself asunder.

They must somehow survive a world gone mad and each other.
