Night Glider has lived in Starlight's old village for a long time and needs to get out... if only for the weekend. There's gotta be more to life, right? A greater purpose? Maybe she'll find it in Canterlot, if she's lucky.

Spike, who works at the Canterlot castle full-time, is comfortable in his daily routine of lounging about, doing what Twilight asks him and hanging out with his friends on the weekend. Why would he want anything to change when he knows exactly what to expect day after day... after day... after day. Okay, maybe he was too comfortable. Starlight was keen on making that change.

Maybe getting asked to be the official tour guide for the weekend for a mare looking for something new in life is just what the both of them need to learn a little more about themselves, what they want and what experiences life can offer?

It's only a weekend though. It's not like anything too crazy can happen, right?

This story is a sequel to Salmon Run

When the leaves turn golden and crisp, fried by the Summer Sun to a tender perfection, Twilight Sparkle discovers something even MORE alarming than whatever was up with the pegasi in the previous fic.

Alternate Summary: The pegasi are missing. Twilight is the only one alarmed about this, and it's up to Applejack to make things worse.

Other Alternate Summary: "Twilight learns things that outrage her and Applejack uses potato as a verb."

Written as an "intentionally-bad" sequel to Mushroom's fabulous and genuinely well-written Salmon Run for a contest in which a group of friends all wrote awful expansions to each other's stuff. When asked to comment, Mushroom had the following to say:

"I am absolutely HOWLING.

I should have known this would be stupidly brilliant. I'm genuinely angry that this is so good and creative and interesting because it's literally. This. It's potatoes.

I have a mighty need to create an image of roided out RD. Silent, you're a terrifying genius. This will genuinely, truly never leave me." -Mushroom

fried by the Summer Sun to a tender perfection,

the salmon come home to die.

Weird experimental piece that took second place in the Quills and Sofas pegasus contest. The prompts were "broken wings" / "hostile skies". It was originally written in 75 minutes. This version has only received minor grammatical edits.

A child prodigy, a stallion running out of space, agents on a mission, a mage at the height of her power, a farmer in search of a new beginning, and a pony that just wants to keep her secrets buried. The caretaker who watches over them all.

Empty roadways after dark, lit only by the pale moon and distant lights. Living rooms void of furniture and life, with only ghosts lingering where warmth once was. Supermarkets with full shelves, and distant songs playing overhead with the hum of electricity flowing through the air. Places where life should be, but isn't. Places where you can't help but feel that you do not belong.

Ponies that have nothing and everything in common, in places that wear familiar faces but are haunting all the same. In a world beyond space and time, the tower teaches them the lessons they must learn.

This a tale of liminal spaces, twists of fate, and a tower that looms over everything and everypony below. It will update twice a week until it is complete, usually on Tuesday and Thursday. Strap in for a long ride.

UPDATE 14 April, 2023: The second arc is now complete, so there will be a temporary hiatus till the third arc is ready. Stay tuned!
