You know what always struck me as a bit weird? The most common argument against writing Applejack's accent is that we all already know how she sounds, so it's unnecessary. Yet I seem to recall hearing that the mark of really great fanfiction is the ability to be understood and enjoyed by audience members who have little-to-no knowledge of the source material. So which is it? Or did I hear wrong?
Applejack has always been my least favorite of the main six, but it was hard to say exactly why. After a while I realized a big part of my problem with Applejack was how she talks. She sounds like a Canadian voice actress trying to mimic what she's heard on episodes of Hee Haw. Nobody talks like that. I grew up on a ranch here in Texas, and we didn't talk like that. Now, I can't rightly convey an accent in text, but I can give a few authentic suggestions for those of you wanting to write

3. Australian
4. South African
5. Scottish
6. New Zealand
7. Welsh
8. French
9. Swedish
10. Southern American
I'm going straight to the point: some of my stories (in one way, or another) Applejack is going to have some speaking parts. No biggie, right? Well, you'd be wrong because I have no idea how to write in a southern accent! And it doesn't help that my Mom is northern and my Dad's southern, so both accents sound the same to me. Trust me, I've been to Massachusetts, and I can barely tell a difference because of my Mom's influence.

I'm not sure about this too much, but I've taken notice to obvious changes in my own voice as I got older, the most noticeable since recently. I spoke about this a year or two ago, I think, but your voice constantly matures, deepens and gets more distinct as you get older, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that a few changes will take place.

Royalty for a Day
I'm hoping for some feedback for my story as it's my first time with both Luna and Pipsqueak as the main characters. I had some help with the accents for Pipsqueak but I felt like my Luna wasn't quite there.
My previous LDC post was about a very omnipresent cliché. Today, I’d like to discuss a similarly common, and no less frustrating trope; the phonetic accent.
What is it? The phonetic accent is when a writer attempts to spell a word how it sounds. There is (usually) no guidelines or reasoning to it, and it’s often far disconnected from normal spelling.
Ha, Derpibooru, just responded to a question to the mods. Wow, what inferior human beings most of them are. They can't even answer simple questions. Well, I've always thought that if one can't behave as a human being, then why should they be treated as one. Apparently, they are what many groups have deemed sub-humans.
I, personally, don't believe in the supposed sub-human. But then again I have no empathy for my fellow human beings.

When your imaginary friend starting telling you to murder everyone, you realize that the whole experience would make a pretty good song.
When the little voice in your head start speaking to you in Spanish only, you realize just how awful google translations actually are.
When your sister starting making it very clear just how willing she really is, you realize that the old say, "Where there's a will, there's a way," is always true.
Whenever an author updates a linear story with a chapter placed earlier than what was the latest chapter before it makes my mind lose grasp of where the heck the story was going.
I'll tell you what's great:
Nachos and salsa. Old El Paso style.
Even better with some mature cheddar cheese and melted together in a microwave. Mmm. Everytime you go out somewhere and nachos are on the menu, go for it, dude!
