Mother, i'm working on it. I have proof.
Mother, i'm working on it. I have proof.
I know I said I'd do this Friday, but I think maybe it's best to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, and Filling Space unexpectedly got hot. Which is funny, because space is cold. But... well, filling space would make it hot, I suppose. Nerding and joking aside...
Hi guys!
We had a bit of a ponder and realized that the deadline for the AppleDash Contest being so close to both Xmas and New years would be a strain, since people would be celebrating regardless. So on top of the 24 hour extension we already gave, we're adding an extra two weeks.
I've posted another chapter for my story? Mayhap you should go check it out, my dear readers?
Edit: I'm a little disappointed that it didn't get that much attention, aside from a few comments and a dislike. I hope more people comment, even nitpick. Oh well. Maybe next time...
-OR- The writing exercise that time forgot!
So, waaaaay back when is started the ponyfic thing, a friend of mine suggested I try writing more stories in First Person, and told me I should write a short bit in order to get more used to it. After much grumbling I finally complied, writing a short seven page scene between Zecora and Blueblood... and then we both promptly forgot about it and never spoke of it again.
As of late last night, I managed to break the two hundred follower benchmark! I'm so grateful for all of your support And I hope you'll all continue to read and enjoy my stories. I plan to be releasing my next one in time for Halloween, as it is a Nightmare Night story. I've also got a few other story ideas in my head running around, so we'll have to see where that leads me.
So, a friend of mine started a writing blog!
Dutch Tilt is a buddy of mine from overseas who I've known for years. He's always had a love of writing and so he's started up a blog of his own. A few of you maybe are familiar with his work (Country of Roses, a neat little Dark Tower/MLP crossover that got featured on Equestria Daily a while ago).
So, I'm thinking about giving up on writing. Why am I doing this? Well, it's not because I've ran out of ideas or that I'm not into MLP of fanfiction in general anymore. It's just that I think that my stories have gotten terrible and I think it's time for me to stop. You're without a doubt thinking: "You're just doing this to get sympathy or attention." And I say: I can't change your mind, think whatever you want.
M235 Final Tease!
Also that ending will be edited, but it's from the original! =] (No the fic isn't ending in 5 chapters. Pffft. We have a long way to go before this baby ends! =] )
CS:GO 100 win marker. That's a lot of wins.
Road to Master Guardian anyone?
Good news, everyone! I've migrated my blog to Wordpress and given it a little direction. I've dumped the episode review angle (which everyone else is doing anyway) and decided to blog about something closer to my heart - writing Fimfiction
(From the Tumblr blog of Pirate King Fowler)
So, for the last three years, I’ve been working on a novel series, and I’ve found myself coming back to be critical about my own ideas, but there’s this one thing that keeps pulling me back to question it: cultural appropriation.
Well, I promised that I'd do this eventually. I've recently had a lot of people follow me that are new to this site, and I figured that this blog could serve as an reference for them to go back to. I've ordered the difficulty of story genres to write based on subjective opinion and personal experience. Note that some genres will be easier to write for some people than others, and to practice on what feels the most natural to you and what you feel comfortable with.
So I was in Monochromatic's Enchanted Library Discord server last night, when our Patron Saint of RariTwi gave us a simple request:
People proceeded to post short, paragraph-length drabbles featuring everyone's favorite Purple Girlfriends and it was wonderful. I decided to give it a shot as well for fun.
Things got a bit out of hand.
Yep, that's right, my depression about not getting many views for the story is evaporated, burnt to dust, exterminated, you might say... And I owe it all to Hail King Sombra, (Seriously, give this guy a follow, and check out his Doctor Who crossover, it is excellent!) who gave me this verbal Gibbs Slap.
Hello everyone! Welcome to my new and unrequested series on learning about writing. I've blogged about bits of writing before, but here I want to go from the ground up and do something a little bit more comprehensive. I'm not writing a textbook with every aspect of storytelling covered one after another - hell, my own eyes glaze the fuck over when I see guides for newbie writers with headings and subheadings for 'plot' 'characters' 'villains' with a hundred points in alphabetical order, after
Where do these months go?
Because other methods fail, I've started measuring time in uni assignments. The next hand-in is in ... three? Four? Five weeks time? The term papers are soon after that. Probably weeks, maybe months. I should really check, but it gives me two elastic, inexact units of time to work with. Better than months.
On today's agenda, two much-delayed links to others' works, and one status update. Let's get the words-on-words out of the way first.
Today's topic is a bit odd, and a bit different. In fact, while it's been sitting untouched on my current topic list (number eight) pretty much from day one, I distinctly recall that it's been on earlier versions of the list, and I've just kept putting it off despite it being a requested topic because ... well ... I don't have much in the way of hands-on experience with it. Really all I can offer is my own reasons for why I don't do either of the things today's topic
I feel it is important to make a note on my portrayal of incestuous relationships. I will only ever write about sister-sister or perhaps brother-brother incest. Nothing more. I hold a great dislike for brother-sister pairings, and father-daughter or mother-son parings are equally distasteful in my eyes. My reasons for this may at first not make sense but my attitudes and justifications for this seeming contradiction are based on one simple and all-important consideration. Homosexual pairings,
IN WHICH I FINISHED THE WRONG FIC
After a morning running around town with my maybe-former S.O. (not sure even she knows at this point), I spent some time out in the natures, getting in a little exercise before the cold comes tomorrow, trying to clear my head so I can write more of Sunset's "Reconciliation" story. I finished Rainbow Dash yesterday and started AJ. I wrote a little bit more AJ today, then got distracted.
Hello, one and all!
As promised, I'm back with another Author Spotlight episode. Just to recap, there aren't any specific rules to who I choose for these, they just have to be someone who writes stuff I like. Also, I'm trying for one or two a week at this time, and I'll probably keep at this pace until I run through my initial planned list.
Anywho, without further ado, let us welcome this weeks featured author...
