Author Spotlight #2 - PegasusMesa · 7:51pm Jun 17th, 2017
Hello, one and all!
As promised, I'm back with another Author Spotlight episode. Just to recap, there aren't any specific rules to who I choose for these, they just have to be someone who writes stuff I like. Also, I'm trying for one or two a week at this time, and I'll probably keep at this pace until I run through my initial planned list.
Anywho, without further ado, let us welcome this weeks featured author...
Let me preface this by saying the following: PegasusMesa is one of the best editors I've ever had the privilege of having tear apart one of my fics. That's how I first learned about their works. After I realized how much I needed to improve, I took the steps they offered and got leaps and bounds better. Alot of that growth can be contributed to PegasusMesa. For that, I am grateful.
Anywho, let's get to the meat of this post. Why are they on the list?
First and foremost, their stories are fantastic. There's variety, intelligence and a great deal of entertainment to be had. Everything from comedy to sultry romance and even the occasional darker fic can be found within the confines of their story page.
You feel like laughing? You feel like crying? You want something to keep you on the edge of your seat? Mesa has all of that in spades.
Anywho, let's break down a few of my favorite stories by them. These are stories I'm sure all of you will find most enjoyable.
This story does something many have tried, but few have succeeded at: Writing a realistic OC. In this story, which is a romance of sorts, Mesa has created a character with a deep personality and found a way to have them romance Rainbow Dash. It's what one would normally call a Cardinal Sin of writing, but for whatever reason, this story works. If you like a little romance with a bit more depth behind it then check this one out. Not to mention, if you want a solid example of OC writing, this one is also for you.
Dark done right.
I never thought I'd use those words in reference to this site before I came across this story. I won't go into too much detail here because this story needs to be read to be fully appreciated. But, suffice it to say, this story is a fantastic example of how to use the dark tag. Don't just force fear or darker emotions into the story, let them have a natural presence. Let the enviornment lend itself to be dark and create the uneasiness. Mesa does this with flying colors.
If you've ever wanted to write a darker, more intense story, look to this one as a good example.
3. Rarity's Quest To Save Literally Everything
This story...
Okay, so I'm a bit biased because I love Rarity. She's my favorite Mane 6 and probably my third favorite overall in the show. That being said, I've seldom read a story that better catches her personality than this story does. Let's go over what this story has going for it real quick:
-It's an edge of your seat adventure.
-It has moment that genuinely make you laugh without going overboard.
-It has elements of believable romance.
-Some of the best pacing known to man.
-Almost flawless grammatically.
This story is one of the best examples of writing on this site and demands to be read. Is it perfect? No, of course not. But it's an entertaining read I'm certain everyone of you will enjoy.
Anyway, that about sums it up for this episode of Author Spotlight. Remember, if you write something I like, I may end up putting you on this list before too long!
Love you guys,
Famous.
Your image links are broken.
I used to like PM, until they offered to help, rescinded, and blocked me for no reason.

My image links seem to work on my computer. I'll see what's up.

Working now

Excellent!
I wonder if I start writing if I'll be interesting enough to have other people blog about be.
Nah. I'll just stick to the Scooby Doo fic I'm brewing and then dump it after 1 or 2 chapters like everything else

You have natural talent..
4574407
Natural talent is like using a baseball bat to kill a guy when it's better to just use the knife that is experience.
That... That has to be the oddest analogy I've ever made.
4574487
True, but the fact you were born with knowing how to kill someone in the first place is a gift in of itself, lol.
4574580
Yeah but... Geez blood is hard to get out of carpets. That's why I switched to hard wood floors. But I still have to wear a poncho while doing shit because other wise it gets all on my clothes and--you know what? I think I've lost track of the metaphor a while back.

Well, this blog got excessively violent.
4575665
Pffft nah it's fine. A little stabbing never hurt anybody.
