4276331 Doesn't matter. The story was put in the folder a while ago, from the time before time (ie, when we didn't have a submissions thread).

Adding to the list. I love coffee! Speaking of, I think I'm going to get coffee.

4277143 I've skimmed across the Pending Review Folder enough times to be able to recognize a few titles here and there.

I shall regret this....

Title: Nature Calls

Description: Viridi: The Goddess Of Nature, from Kid Icarus Uprising, unwillingly comes to Equestria after being hit accidentally by the Lightning Chariot. There, Bon Bon and Lyra are her guides and show the goddess around. She doesn't like what she sees...

Reason: This, overall was the fic that I got the most positive feedback, leaving all my other fics in the dust. If I should ever show my face in this group, it should be with this fic in my digital hands. I put my absolute best work into this fic and even got help from a professional writer. Also...I really liked it....not biased whatsoever by the way.. I wish to make an original HiE fic. One that will be different from all the others so that people may not shun me as another talentless writer! I shall prove myself to you! That is why I am entering this story in this bin!

At least I have Scootaloo...

That description is a little skinny, but you did provide a link. Hmmm, I need a little more on the description, and I would like a better reason. Like why would someone want to read it, or something along those lines.

Regis-Th3-Lesser

4286535 Heck, I probably would do that if it meant entry to the bin. Still, you cannot bribe judges. So I shall have to do this the hard way.

Well then. Let the games begin.

4286477 Could you just expand on your reason a bit more? As in, what did you aim to achieve when writing this story, or something?

Title: Would you do Discord?

Description: Twilight asks Celestia a rather… surprising question.

Reason I think the story is worth reading: It's a cute short story involving Celestia being in a rather awkward situation with Twilight. There's no porn whatsoever, just a few sex innuendos here and there which would make you feel sorry for the sun princess.

I honestly believe in the word of mouth. And I would prefer not to look like some mad braggart by submitting my.... Slowly progressing attempt at Occult Detective Fiction. (If I can even have the right to call it that...) But publicity is publicity, and while it's likely to be rejected faster than Blublood in a Jazz Club. I like to gamble. So I'll gladly throw my dice. :raritywink: (No offence intended. This is an awesome group.)

The Symphony of Canterlot

Description: A) Don't let the marble encrusted streets of Canterlot fool you. It's a city filled with secrets. In one of Dr. Folklore's first cases for the Nocturne, he faces horrors long forgotten. And witnesses the rise of an old and terrible legacy. One of blood.

B) The parallel-sequel to "A Puppet to Her Fame". By Kaidan.
All these decades poking through the dark alleyways of the underworld and dealing with the dead. I have never really felt that I was over my depth -- call it arrogance if you wish, I'm pretty sure that I'm just making a bad comparison anyway. -- Few cases tend to shape you as much as your worse case. It's never the easiest, It's never the longest. It's always the one that reveals a lair of the world you always felt was the realm of paranoid windbags and moody horror writers. I knew of certain aspects of magic, I just never seen it done at such a close proximity to home. I'll warn you once. This will make you reevaluate what you know or what you think you know. You can back off now you know, I'll tell ya it's not for everypony...

As for why it should be read... Well. It's a story that isn't a crossover but takes elements from various well known Neo-Noir's, Horror Comedies, Comics, and Myths. For the most part, it's a gumshoe tale about the well disguised, jewel encrusted underbelly of Canterlot. The parts of Equestrian History that wouldn't make it into a children's television show. The intricate details of Dark Magic. And most of all. The fact that even with these elements, Equestria will keep rolling, it's still a land of harmony and that even with the monsters, cultist and mediocre guards, Equestria is a place that can take that and still be a shinning example of a nation and a starting point to a universe with untold mysteries. In all? I just want to write about a wizard setting monsters on fire.

It's partially inspired by the Mike Mignola stories. "Witchfinder: In the Service of Angles", "Hellboy: The Chained Coffin." and "The Shadow" radio dramas.

Okay. Good for it.

Do you think it does this well?

I have a story I want to submit, but I think I'll wait until I get Chapter 2 up, since I'm so excited about it. In the meantime, I'll submit my other story people liked, though I'm not entirely sure why:

Binary Suns
(by me:raritywink:)

Celestia wakes up next to Celestia. What could this mean for Equestria and the free world?

This was me trying me hardest to be random in a one-shot. I think I succeeded, but it didn't stop me from considering "the rest of the story". Read through the comments, they're fun.

Title: A Heart Encased In Stone, https://www.fimfiction.net/story/259125/a-heart-encased-in-stone

Description: Takes place during the Christmas Comic in Equestria Girls universe, during the Anon-A-Miss incident. Sunset feels betrayed and hurt by her friends and flees the scene. She ends up in a room with another student she's never meet before and quickly learns that he has his own views on friendship that go against everything she's ever been taught on the subject. Raises the question to her whether or not what she's be told is correct or what this stranger says is right instead.

Reason to Think this Story is worth reading: Well mainly because it explores something the show has never really tackled, Namely the darker side of friendships. Not abuse or stuff like that of course, but to an extent the notion of both how fragile friendships can be and how people you thought were your friends, might not be as friendly or as willing to stand by you as you originally perceived. I feel it's an interesting character study and addresses that friendship does have dark sides to it beyond what the show has presented.

Note: This is mainly a oneshot and my first story written, I appreciate any criticism or thoughts, but please keep it civil or explain your reasoning so I can better improve in the future. Still hope you guys will give the story a shot and let me know what you think.

4287066
I would like to make a self-submition. I thought I might as well try, since I'm newly part of this group and was invited into it by a contributor.

Title: Cool Story Bro, But It Needs More... Ponies?

Description: Oh, you had a bad day at high school?
A couple of douches duct tape your car to a light pole in the parking lot?
Phht, that's nothin'.
Buddy, just kick back, relax, and let me tell you what happens when friends experiment with witchcraft on you.
It all started with the mane... My mane.

Rated Teen for an occasional cuss here or there.

Reason why it should be read/submitted: This is my most liked story, despite the fact it's a one-shot. It's sequel has been featured before on FIMFiction, which could contribute to its minor popularity. But overall, it's a bit of a light-hearted comedy involving the transformation into a pony, which I've heard has been an enjoyable read by all of my followers.

Cheers to you if you don't flat-out reject it!

but it didn't stop me from considering "the rest of the story"

Could you explain what this means, please?

4287638

Huh well that was faster than I expected.

4287638 Oh, sorry. I love world-building in writing. It's what my mind jumps to before anything else. When I wrote Binary Suns, I also immediately came up for the basis of five or six other chapters that will never see the light of day. The comments help explain a little bit.

4287643 You're welcome.

4287644

Reason you think the story is worth reading

This was me trying me hardest to be random in a one-shot. I think I succeeded

Maybe if you explained why something being random makes it good, I'd be willing to add this to the review list. Ideas? Does random = good, now? If so, why? How? Why should I add this story to our already long list of stories to review? If you're trying to be humble, you have my permission to brag and boast as much as you want about the things you think you've done well.

Title: Lessons Learned from Loyalty

Description: Many ages after the original adventures of the Elements of Harmony, a young stallion soars high into the clouds searching for the Element of Loyalty.
--
Her original life lived and gone so long ago, Loyalty, like the rest of her friends, has changed and grown over her many lifetimes to guide the ponies of Equestria.

Because even after so long, the Elements of Harmony will always share their lessons of friendship.

Reason why I think the story is worth reading: Contains a giant, flying turtle of awesomeness.

...Oh! And also my readers have informed me that the concept behind this story, and indeed the very Tutelary Spirit universe that it belongs to, is one of the most original and well-executed premises centered on immortality that ingeniously sidesteps the whole angst side of immortality stories where the character bemoans about how they had to outlive all of their friends and family.

But personally I find the giant, flying turtle of awesomeness to be of much higher note.

4287717 Woops, sorry again. I missed that bit jumping back and forth between tabs.

I loved writing the story to see how Celestia would handle an inexplicable situation that could still have serious repercussions. I can't speak as a reader, but that's my favorite part. The story is funny, clever, and cleanly written. It's not what anyone would call a masterpiece, but it's a fun, quick read that's easily worth five minutes.

4288007 Perfect. Adding to the list.

Hmm... Yeah, sure, I'll go for it.

Title: Apple Surprise

Description:

Babs Seed gets an interesting letter from Apple Bloom that may change how she views her family.

Reason why it's worth reading: It's a cute, heartwarming slice of life piece that extrapolates on One Bad Apple, focusing on Babs Seed as well as another character that is underused in pony fiction. Standing at 139:2 currently, it's my highest rated story, which also got into Twilight's Library before it crumbled.

But, just as a bit of a warning: This was written and released in July last year, so it doesn't correlate with Bloom and Gloom. You'll see what I mean if you read it.

HapHazred

4288039 Added. I luv Babs!

When she's not terrifying the CMC, of course.

Aw, heck. Even then!

Title: Accidental Banishment

Description: Princess Celestia accidentally sends Luna back to the moon. She doesn’t want to wait another thousand years for her sister to return so she requests help from the space agency to help retrieve Luna before she gets irritated.

If only Luna would be a bit more cooperative with the rescue team.

Reason why I think it's worth reading: I think it might be a nice read for people who would like to see Luna's behaviour after such accident. And it also might be interesting for readers who would like to know how the rescue team handles such situation. It's a nice, short story.

Title: Run

Description: Sweetie Belle is leaving Ponyville. As Apple Bloom says goodbye to her, she thinks about everything they've been through together. Does she have what it takes to stop Sweetie going?

Sad/Romance. Very short one-shot. Story is deliberately ambiguous as to their age and species. It can be read as foals or aged-up; pony, anthro, or human.

Reason why I think it's worth reading: I wrote this pretty quickly, and didn't think there was much special about it, but feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, so I thought I'd submit it here. It'll only take you five minutes or so to read.

Added, I'll look at it when I can. Got a lot of stories in the Pending Review folder

-Shattered Twilight (It's mature rated, but no explicit content so not sure if I can add a link or not because of the rules.) Story List Link

-After Twilight is hurt by her friends and family, she stumbles across and through the mirror into an alternate Equestria Girls universe where Sunset Shimmer has yet to attend Canterlot High and gets kidnapped moments after arriving. She is introduced to the darkest parts of humanity with the only person trying to help her being Sunset Shimmer. (It is a Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer pairing.)

-While it may contain some elements from my main head canons, which means it may share details with some of my stories. For the most part it is one of the more original Canterlot Wedding fics from what I've seen and while it explores the darkest parts of humanity, it also shows the best after both Sunset and Twilight are rescued and they make a new life. (I feel that I should point out again that this is an alternate universe.)

4288402 Not for you. All you have to do is sit around until one of us gets to it.

Unless it was a quip. In which case, touche.

So, here's my submission, if your still taking them:

Title: Ponyville in a "Jam"

Description: When a rash of thefts break out in Ponyville it's up to the Doctor and his assistant to find out just who the culprit is and how they are able to steal without magic. But can he do it when he realizes he's not the only one on the hunt?

Reason: The title is a pun, just to clarify. I know that's probably not scoring me many points right off the bat but I figured you'd find out eventually. I've had several people so far review it already, though they weren't big or all that well known names admittedly, but from the few I've had I consistently scored around a 8-9/10, so I've got that going for me. I tried submitting to EqD at one point but you know how they are, so that didn't get me very far. This story is actually my first one, and the whole reason I decided to join FIMFiction in the first place. It all started with a dream I had, of the Doctor and his TARDIS, and Ditzy was there too, and so was Twilight, and Pinkie Pie, and Applejack, and Berry Punch for some reason, I still don't know why, and there was also this weird creature with a long-actually, you know what? I may be getting ahead of myself. If you like Doctor Who and ponies, this story might interest you. If not, it's still a comedy, so you might get a few laughs. And if that still fails, then there is just no pleasing you, is there?

You may find it here.

One of your contributors, Nocturnia, invited me to self-submit my story. So I guess I'll give it a shot!

Title: The Life of a Wanted Changeling (Comment Driven Story)

Description: You are a changeling lost in the Everfree forest a couple of weeks after the failed invasion attempt at the royal wedding. You're not the brightest changeling out there and you tend to be really clumsy. You only have two goals in your mind right now, one is to get out of this blasted forest, and when you do get out, try not to get captured. Your whole kind is wanted by the royal guard after all.

Reason: This is the first fic in the Life of a Wanted Changeling series that I have been making. I've been told that it's really funny by the people who've read it, and I have to agree with them. It's my first ever fic I have ever made, and I'm quite proud of how it turned out. It has been finished, but that doesn't mean people who are interested can't still enjoy it's humor. It has action in it as well, and a pretty interesting story, and it's way out there in the randomness, so it's good for anyone who likes a good random story.

Link: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/181733/the-life-of-a-wanted-changeling-comment-driven-story

I hope I did this right, and sorry if I didn't. I don't even know if this is the right story Nocturnia wanted me to submit :twilightsheepish:. Oh well, I hope you like it at least! Please take your time through, there's no rush :pinkiehappy:.

Okay, so I suppose I could do this.

Title- The Asylum

Description- ((Short description)) Stupidity is what rules over us all. I for one followed it closely. And it has led me here, to this asylum. It homes some of Equestria's most dangerous killers and some of its crazier residents. And every night, I watch them in fear...

Reason why I think the story is worth reading- ((Sales pitch time!)) This story is a mixture of confusion, fear, and suspension. If you are into things like Silent Hill and Five Nights at Freddy's, then this is the story for you! As you read, you will either be perplexed by the events of the story or drawn to read further. When you're done, I cannot guarantee that you will know which reality is your reality, but I can guarantee that you'll want to read on! I mean, with a like to dislike ratio of 27:0 and a total view count of 244 and counting ((this just coming from an amateur writer with absolutely zero experience)), there is little to no doubt that you'll be intrigued by this work of literature!

Link- https://www.fimfiction.net/story/222800/the-asylum

Greetings, I shall join in the shameless self-submission as well. :P

Title: A State of Darkness

Description: An ongoing tale of original characters set in an Equestria with secret branches of the well-known guard corps, A State of Darkness revolves around a Wonderbolt DarkOps unit as it protects Equestria from threats both foreign and domestic. The story dives into an alternate universe in which consequences spread beyond the discovery of good morals - and in which the elements of a shadier underworld are addressed, discussed and elaborated.

My shameless list of reasons! Original characters? A gore tag? Did I seriously write DarkOps? Yes, I did. I don't think it's a stretch to say that there exists a wide body of people that might consider this story's combination a recipe for disaster, but I hope to convince readers otherwise. I believe I've crafted a piece that encourages thought, showcases detailed action sequences (hence that gore tag), and compels its wonderful fans to click 'Next'. As I continue to write installments, I want to share the growing work with the community, which is my reason for being here now. A State of Darkness is my first and only work on the site, and it has begun to garner a following from an amazing group of new friends and writers alike. In my opinion, those who aren't afraid to jump into OC land, and those who are looking for something a little bit grittier than the normal guard's tale will find this story to be worth some amount of their time. At least, that's my hope. :)

Title: Limits of the Horizon

Description:

They lied to me. They told me I’d been sick, that I'd contracted a virus, and that’s why I couldn't remember two years of my life. Celestia, my friends, Shining Armor, Cadance, Spike… they all looked me straight in the eye, and told me the same thing, the same lie, for eighteen years.

I will never forgive them.

Purpose: My story is dark; I didn't rate it as mature because I never have gore purely for the sake of horror, or sex for the sake of clop, though both exist in moderate amounts. hat I will tell you though is that I despise putting in horror, purely for the sake of horror. The dark exists because it is needed to actually debate the idea of forgiveness/ redemption in a way that contrasts the series

Luna attempts global genocide out of pride. You blast her with the magic rainbow, she's sorry and then you make her co-ruler of the country and suddenly she's a favorite character.

Discord spends an indefinite amount of time torturing everyone on the planet for his own amusement; but so long as he promises to be good he's allowed to walk free, and no one tries to re-imprison him even after he betrays the main characters twice.

Sunset Shimmer attempts to turn everyone into mind-controlled drones; and her punishment is needing to fix the door she broke while everyone else is inside partying, and then we're meant to feel sorry for her that people don't trust her after that.

For anyone who has had anything needing forgiveness done to them, (all of us) this is an absolutely useless portrayal of forgiveness.
For anyone whose done something needing forgiveness; (all of us) this is an absolutely useless portrayal of redemption.

If you went to Syria and met a guy who'd had his arm blown off by IS, seen his kids killed, his wife raped, and his home/ business stolen or destroyed; mlp cannon's message would be that nothing that was done to his family was serious enough that anythings needs to be done about it. And if he'd been a fighter for another group, and committed similar atrocities , mlp's message would be that so long as he doesn't do it again there's no point dwelling on the past.

Fantasy is worthless if it can't help us understand reality better. Forgiveness is free, but that doesn't mean it comes without cost. Limits of the Horizon, and it's sequels, are an attempt at responding to how mlp cannon has blasphemed the price paid for the greatest gift in the history of the universe.

I'm also using this story for the Tournament of Canterlot, a fundraiser I created where artists enter their stories and try to get their followers to sponsor them, with top earning stories winning cash prizes from me, showing I'm willing to actually act on the evil in the world, rather than just throw it into a dark story.

Title:The Hunter: The Path of the Moonlight

Description: Trevor White, a young man in Colorado, endures a series of events that lead him to be attacked by giant glowing tentacle appendages. His family could only watch in horror, as he and his dog are dragged into a blinding hole in the ground, both presumed to be dead.

That is not the case when they find themselves in the middle of a remote desert wasteland, far from home. They wandered for what seemed like forever, sleeping on the ground, and eating the limited food they had. Eventually, they did find people. They did find civilization. However, their problems were only beginning.

Reason: This story is revolved around war, and the toll it takes on society and the mind. This story goes into depth of the effects that occur after the war begins, and what life is like inside militarized safe zones and on the enemy territory.

The story shows Trevor's progression into something sinister, as he loses his innocence in order to survive. The things that he has done and seen will forever haunt him in his memories.

Yes, this is a HIE story, but I'm aiming to avoid any common and annoying clichés in order to create something fresh. This story is filled with dark elements, but it also has its positive side as well when it comes to comedy and forming friendships.
