Button mash's father died two years ago. He still hasn't recoverd. His grades have been slipping, he's lost interest in his games, and the already shy stallion has become extremely reserved.
His mother is too busy trying to support them to notice anything but his grades, and so she is missing the true danger.

In the midst of a Hearth's Warming crisis, Rarity steals Spike away from Twilight to help resolve her dilemma. One lesson and two happenstances later, the situation leaves them somewhere neither of them could have predicted.

Spike would sneak out of the library every night and sit on the bridge between the town and the Everfree, just to think. More often then not, the night ends with him wallowing in self pity over the mare he love's. One night however, Rarity finds her 'Little Spikey Wikey' and she realises something of great value.

IN RELATIONSHIPS, some things must be said, while others are best left unspoken. At the end of an exasperating day, Spike and Rarity camp in the desert and talk.
