My final thoughts:
Horse Play was cringe humor done right.
Non-Compliant Cause was cringe humor done horribly wrong.
This however.... felt like a "in the Middle" episode, the cringe humor in the first half wasn't painful, but felt a little mundane. I think they should have been a little more time spent with Cozy Glow to get a better feel for her character. The resolution felt a little passe.
A somewhat low key debut for Cozy Glow. She didn’t really do anything worthy of much suspicion, although in my opinion her voice sounded a little bit... stiff.
I feel cheated at the end of the episode. I'm sure she'll reveal her true colors by the season finale, unless she ends up being manipulated by an outside force
Props to Scootaloo for being unaffected to Spike's growth. I wonder about that new student... Starlight is trying; even though she's having some slight relapses. Although, that "Empathy Cocoa" does sound delicious..
Edit: As an aside, I wonder if anyone will be making an "Empathy Cocoa" story for the lols. Also. be careful Spike; keep this up and you might get a honorary Nichol Bolas title for your manipulations.
I gotta say, I really liked this episode. And i am really liking Cozy Glow. It's really interesting that we get to meet our season finale villain before the finale. all in all a really fun episode and I can't wait to see how Cozy Glow gets to be our villain.
A far more powerful piece than a mere pawn, being the third most valuable piece, after the King and Queen. I'm guessing that if the rook is any indication, she's not a pawn in somebody's scheme.
Also, I don't think Cozy Glow is Chrysalis. She displayed zero obvious contempt for Starlight, when one episode later, Chrysalis couldn't pull that off, when asked to take a picture of her too.

Twilight, on the other hand, is getting a bit liberal with handing out those school graduation diplomas. Makes you wonder how much they're actually worth on the job market?

So I finally realized something with this episode: That Starlight is not even remotely a good character, but every character being written so badly creates the illusion that she is. She's not evolving. Everyone else just temporarily de-evolves to make it look like she is. It makes no sense for her to be constantly know more about friendship and solving problems than the ones who fucking redeemed her.
People are absolutely right to hate her. She's a blatant creators pet who's damaging the reputation of actual GOOD characters.
It's hard to form an opinion of the episode when the only uploads I could find have people talking over it (or dubbed in Spanish.)
Honestly I did not care for this one. But again, it's hard to know if it was actually the episode or having a hard time concentrating over the commentary.

Anyway, the episode was... a bit confusing and lackluster, to be honest. So many problems with it.
1: The CMC's want to go to Twilight's school for the sole reason that it's easier than their own, and instead of the episode showing them why school is important, it says "yeah, screw that noise" and let's them drop out of Cheerilee's class to become friendship tutors?
2: Why are they even still in Cheerilee's class to begin with? How old even are they? They have a BUSINESS helping ponies with cutie mark problems and yet they're still in school.
3: Why invent a new pony for this? We already have 6 students who haven't been used much and whom the audience would like to see, but they're pushed aside in favor of a oneshot character with no discernible personality.
There were some nice little bits in the episode, though. I kinda liked that Starlight is struggling a bit to fill her role as guidance counselor, she really should be.
This is one of the first funny "your mom" jokes I've heard in a very long time.
You hear "midnight confessions" Starlight? Really? From your STUDENTS? For shame.
On the whole... I can't say I liked it, but it didn't piss me off either. Taken on its own its just kinda dull and has a counterproductive moral (Seriously, I've never seen a cartoon say "screw school, find a job" before), but it wasn't enough to actually anger me like some previous episodes have.
I kinda hope that ISN'T the case. If it was, what benefit would she have to getting the CMC's into the school? I can't think of any possible motivation for her to go out of the way for this. That's gonna take some expert-level explanations later on.
