Hello everyone.
So I had a good time at Babscon 2018 and ended up regaining some of my excitement for the fandom. Season 8 also helped, great 9 episodes so far. The glue factory was my favorite one. Also should give some props to the nighttime18+ panels for giving me some people I could relate to, mainly the ones involving shit fics and drinking. I figured after 8 years the fandom would be getting smaller, however even as some people leave, a lot of new ones come in. There are also about 50 more background characters to use in my stories now too, so yeah, totally excited to try and remember their names.
I'm going to start hanging out with people again and catching up on 4 years worth of reading in my backlog, (speaking of which any story suggestions?). If that goes well, I'll re-read my stories and decide which ones to continue. Coming back to writing after so long is very hard. It's likely I'll start with some deliberately awful or troll fics to get the juices flowing, then again, I'm not sure I can lower the bar on my writing any further.
As of now, not much point to ask when I'll update a certain story, that'll largely be based on how long it takes me to get back into a groove where writing feels less like trying to read Chinese and more like riding a bike.

Personally would recommend Symphony of the Damned, (must be found on Fimfetch, sadly, don't read the epilogue, for stupid confused ppl), Of The Hive (and its multiple sequels, especially if you like steampunk), Night Mares, My Life as a Bipedal Quadruped, Why?, Fo:E:PH:Speak, Monsters, and Aftermath of a Fallen Star. YMMV, not saying you'll like any of these.

In any case, I don't think anyone will fault you for taking some time to put a dent in your backlog, but yeah, reading the stories first probably would've been a better option.

If you don't have it in your logs already. Check out Evergreen Heart by Aprion(i think thats how his user is spelled but could be wrong.) It's a interesting take on a HIE story where the MC becomes like a shape shifting version of groot. It's a good read and was one of the first i read on this site.

As for stories I can recommend, try "Twilight's Inferno" by PaulAsaran. Still the most emotional story I've ever read.

I had fallen in love with your work back when you came out with a Puppet to Her Fame (Jesus Christ that was 5 years ago), and I always loved seeing whatever work you came out with. Heck, I remember being in chat watching you stream on Twitch.
Then I sort of fell out of the fandom after Equestria Girls and Twilicorn and all the everloving drama and bullshit that happened after Season 3.
When I came back here a couple months ago, I was actually a bit sad to see all the old writers that had been so prolific back then, like RainbowBob or yourself, had fallen off the face of the earth.
Its great to have you back man. Here's hoping you once again write something that makes me depressed and/or want to delete my browsing history afterwards!

I'm not against a nice long fic, as long as it's complete. Immortal Game, Background Pony, etc... I like when a long story hooks you so you don't realize what a ridiculous amount of words I'm reading. I like it less when it causes me to get like 2 hours sleep before work...
But yeah, I wrote Twilight's Dollhouse! It was a lot of fun too. When I figure out the secret to making the sequels as good as the original, oh boy, everyone will be in for even more fun!
p.s. for once if anyone needs a bomb shelter it won't be me, world's crazy enough without my help this time.

Yeah I hate when stories never get finished, even if it's just a hasty resolution, but having been the one who took a break from the fandom I am now aware of how insanely hard it is to pick up a story from years ago. So much of what I wrote drew from life experiences and situations that no longer apply. Other things were just the plethora of ideas and canon in my head for each story that's just been forgotten now. I'll figure something out to try and continue all of the favorites for those who patiently waited while I focused on my career.

At least Twilight's Dollhouse was pretty fully mapped out through the 3rd story for a trilogy, with a particular ending in mind. That makes it a lot easier to write with a road map versus an open ended story that I'm just gonna let go wherever it takes me GRRM style like Dash of Humanity.
Also, my artist friend jaestring mentioned coming back to do more Twilight's Dollhouse comics too! So if you want to see them continue the comics in a new style that'll let them update more frequently, let them know you're interested, perhaps by commenting on the original comic series.

It's actually a story of Twilight getting banished to the deepest depths of Tartarus and she's trying to fight her way back out, but the farther she gets, the more she has to sacrifice as well. It's a rollercoaster that manages to build up more and more emotion the further you read, which is really impressive. Here's a link to it. Oh yeah, and even though it is marked as a "sequel", it stands on its own, so no knowledge of the prequel is required (never read that one myself).
And I totally understand how hard it must be to pick up a story again after such a long time. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, because now you can look at them from a fresh new perspective. Maybe it helps to re-read your old open stories, so you can (first and foremost) get back into the mindset of these stories, but also to look at them from a more distant point of view and see how you can improve the direction of the story even further. Just a suggestion =)
