Yaks are worst MLP characters!

Really hope the yaks freeze to death in this episode.

*Yaks destroy castle wall*
Chinese Pony: "Damn you Yakyakistans!" *angrily shakes hoof*

The title and description instantly cause me to imagine Pinkie carrying a ladder and a sleeping foal wrapped in a blanket.

Maybe the yaks should stop giving everypony the cold shoulder... Or maybe they just need to chill?

Hehehehehehehe!

...

I'll see myself out.

You gotta be kidding me... Two episodes released back to back again...? CANADA!:twilightangry2:

4541320 No one’s from Canada.

Canada’s just a myth to mess up TV scheduling.

4541320 Sorry, didn't mean to offend, just continuing a joke from the last time this happened. But, you would have to admit it is kinda annoying for us in US have to wait much longer for these episode while you keep getting them right in left. (Mind you, I'm willing to wait for this episode as it has the Yaks in it. Oh joy of joys.)

The ep was... okay. A Royal Problem was way better.

I'm really not a fan of the yaks.

...and the moral of the story is that secret intervention in foreign affairs is OK if one country is just being stubborn and the other is so much smarter and has good hair.

So, apparently in Yak culture, it's taboo to ask for help even if you want/need it. And if you want to help, you're supposed to just do it without asking or waiting for permission. Interesting.

Reminds me of some Middle Eastern cultures where taxi drivers will repeatedly reject payment, and passengers are expected to insist on paying until the drivers accept it.

This is one of those episodes where I'll be calling bronies "monsters" if they blame Pinkie Pie for anything. Pinkie sounds like she has good intentions here, but the Yaks are too stubborn and prideful.

Was this episode the first time we've seen Twilight use Earthpony magic?

It was an okay episode. I don't really dislike the yaks, just kinda meh towards them. Though it did have some nice jokes, like Pinkie saying at the end how heavy the helmet it.

4541347 I know I'll probably get a headache for asking this, but if you hate the Brony fandom so much, why are you here, on a BRONY site?:facehoof::applejackconfused: I'm honestly confused here.

4541392 And he hasn't been banned yet how? I know he got banned on a temporary basis, but why it's never been permanent is beyond me. I mean, he wrote a story that attacked the bronies and personified them for crying out loud!

4541385 Because I'm sure as hell not everyone here is a brony and if you think otherwise, that's discriminating. Any user should be allowed to come here and write fan fiction without going borderline insane over the show. I used to respect bronies, believe it or not, because I thought they'd get the jump on for being accused of pedophilia or other stuff because of their age range. But come the Season 3 finale, they should their true colors and revealed themselves to be just like anyone on the Internet who rages, users who trash other people for having opinions that aren't their own. I've been a victim of that.

I can't stress this enough. You don't have to be a brony to be here. Last I checked, no moderator and not even knighty explicitly stated this. That's just something some users would make up to be discriminatory and a jerk, just to drive away the more sensitive kinds. I wrote fan fiction because I wanted to and it helped take my rage out on panned episodes of the series I didn't like. Face it, FiMFiction.net still has the persistent problem of flaming and bashing other users because their not sycophants. Bronies presumably ruined many experiences for other users and they'll likely be ruining experiences for children who still watch the series, especially if kids have brony parents. Do you honest to God think that this is what FiMFiction.net should be? Unwelcoming to non-bronies who just came to either chat or write fan fiction and then they leave the fandom because they would be harassed by users like you who question why we are here? You know, I think the real question is that if the series has truly degraded over the years, why are we ALL still here?

4541396 You know what, I have only one thing to say to you and one thing only and you judging every Brony by the actions of a VERY vocal minority. And that is this. "I pity the fool."

4541401 Well, ask and ye shall receive. I'll bet you didn't even read my response in its entirety. So who's the bigger fool? The fool or the fool who doesn't listen?

4541405 Oh, I read your response, but I still pity you.

So uh... Pinkie Pie x Prince Rutherford anyone? Anything. Whatever comes to mind.

4541412 Whatever. You probably shouldn't have even opened your mouth on me. Next time, why don't we just live and let live. Okay?

"Yaks wait for snow to melt." :facehoof:

...How do you function? I mean, you live in the Frozen North where the temperatures might be in the lower 40's or 30's at best! It's a sad state of affairs when Pinkie Pie is being the Sane Mare(I can't believe those words are coming out of my mouth and those are words that shouldn't even be in the same sentence)! The same Pinkie who brought Gummy, a reptile, to an environment that should be killing him due to him just being there!

I apologize to Pinkie fans, I'm not used to seeing her not being a caricature of herself.

I actually really liked this episode and found it to be quite enjoyable :pinkiehappy:

Prince Rutterford, professional self-insert fanfic writer deluxe!

Ehh... Didn't really do it for me. I may have to rescind my rescission of my claim that season 7 is going to be a bit of a disappointment (on last episode's discussion thread). A Royal Problem is likely going to be one of the few outliers. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but... :applejackunsure: well, we'll just have to see.

I mean, I guess they might have been trying to give the moral that if a friend is clearly in need of help but refuses to ask for it—especially if it affects others—sometimes you need to step in if it's for their betterment, but that leads to a whole lot of gray area, and I think it's a bit of a stretch. Either way, whatever moral they were trying to convey (if any) was not presented well. :ajbemused:

4541341 Yeah, there's definitely a conspiracy to brainwash the children into thinking that when a big powerful and rich country invades your land and starts "helping" without you asking, you need to be thankful and let them walk all over you.
No, seriously.

Yeah this episode kinda...sucked.

This episode was... okay. Not being a fan of the yaks' debut story, I expected worse, but found myself pleasantly surprised. Nothing too epic, but it still had plenty of great Pinkie moments.

The episode wasn't the best, but it was watchable

I liked the part where Rutherford pretended he slammed a door on Pinkie Pie :rainbowlaugh:

I thought this one was pretty good. Consistently funny, and Pinkie was not a caricature of herself.

Deadpan Snarker like episode. Now Deadpan Snarker off to see Trixie, to exchange third person/pony speaking tips.

4541610 I'll admit it was nice seeing Pinkie Pie being her normal self after god knows how long.

Gary Chalk makes best Yak.

4541498 It's less a conspiracy than Western "common sense" being both so hegemonic and so utterly out of whack with any sane moral system. This is the same problem that led the writers to first characterize Starlight with all the traits of a Nazi's worst fantasies about Communists. They simply don't know any better.

Refusing to ask for help but being gracious about accepting it was once how an Englishman behaved? So therefor of myth and legend?

4541711 Pretty sure 4541498 was being sarcastic there, Zimmer.

4541841 I know. And I agree that there was no conspiracy. But my point is that you can get a bad message out of benign intentions, if the common sense is out of whack enough.

Hehe
Pinkie Pie went just about full native
I thought it was ok

Why are the episodes being released so fast?

4541932 The Canadian channel Treehouse is airing two new episodes a weekend, as opposed to Discovery Family's one.

4541341 Ah, so that is why Blueblood was the Yakistan ambassador in the comics
Damn shame they didn't have him go with Pinkie here

Poor guy needs an episode or two

There's not a lot of substance to this one, so a review will be brief. Pinkie visits the yaks during Yakslubert Fest (I hope I spelled that right), a sacred holiday. The day consist of smashing logs, swaying to music, and sleeping.

The yaks were low on my list of returning characters, but they are at least more tolerable here than in Party Pooped. For one, they do things besides smash property. Their personalities are still very basic, save for their leader, Prince Rutherford.

Commotion during one of their stomping ceremonies creates an avalanche, apparently a yearly occurence. Rutherford won't accept outside help in clearing the village of snow. The yaks are left to sleeping with no shelter and having no food until all the snow is dug away or melts. Much time is spent on Pinkie's attempts of persuading Rutherford to let her friends come and help clean; she asks directly, casually directs the conversation towards her idea, and even tells a parable on why accepting help is good. Rutherford rejects her every time.

Pinkie and friends eventually go and clean the village in secret. The yaks wake up believing the snow melted, but Rutherford catches on that Pinkie was behind it. He is overjoyed at her and her friends aid, despite having clearly and vehemently rejected all previous offers. He says the difference was that Pinkie helped without asking, which is 'the yak way.' Except Pinkie asked a lot, so this ending is a complete and bogus heel turn.

There's not much else to say. The episode has a few amusing moments, and a really dumb ending.
