Click the link above to be taken to the survey.
The reason why I'm doing this survey is because unfortunately analytics can't tell use everything about device usage. This should provide us with better data, but only if lots of you respond! It's simply 3 multiple choice questions so it's 5 seconds work.
Thanks!
edit: Laptop = desktop for the purposes of this survey.
Done.
Hope it helps.

You're welcome, and I hope it helps
Site is shit on the mobile safari for Iphone
Done. I'm one of these rare people who doesn't use mobile devices.
I feel like such a Luddite.
Everything is Chrome in the future
Oh, good. I LOVE surveys!
Done. It is nice of you to pay attention to things like this. Is why this site is really the only one I use for Pony related content.

I'm pretty sure "Desktop" just means "Compooter" in this case.
Mobile site REALLY needs work. About all I can do is read and rate. I can't comment/makes posts, add/remove favorites, add/remove read laters, and can't really manage my profile. It always gives me an error when I try to do these things, or does nothing at all.
Not to mention the occasional browser crashing, but that's debatable on if it's the site's fault or not...
My response may look odd, but Chrome (mobile) for both primary and secondary is accurate. Primary is a tablet and secondary is my phone.
Edit: No issues with the mobile site for me, but we're talking recent Nexus devices with up to date Chrome, so maybe that's the difference? It definitely helps that the site correctly presents the non-mobile interface for my tablet.
1252798 Sadly I agree.
For reading and other browsing activities on Fimfiction (and pretty much the rest of the Internet), I primarily use Opera Mini on my Android (back a month ago, when I had non-touchscreen, non-smartphone, I used Opera Mini as well). It doesn't support active JavaScript, though, so when I come across some sort of roll-down menu, such as Read Later list, I have a little bit of trouble there.
So I think there should be some kind of light-weight version of this site (like wap version) for people who use Opera Mini or have JavaScript disabled.
Done done and done.
1252814 Strange, I can comment just fine. I think I hadn't even problems adding favourites or using the read-later list. What kind of browser do you use?
1252798Samething on chrome. I think their should be an App for FiMFiction, I would pay some money to for it to be made, actually.
I use fimfiction on a desktop, but I swear sometimes I'm a minority. I only use the mobile site on my phone. All I do is reading, which is fine, but I imagine it must be difficult for mobile users to use other site functionalities.
I'm afraid I've got no advice for the mobile site.
Did it!

Yes. This needs to be fixed.

Dolphin HD for Android
1252798 I liked the site better when I saw it as desktop on the iPod Safari.
1252799 These days laptop = desktop.
1252843 Try Opera Mini instead. It'll work better.

I havent even GOT my iPhone yet—doing so this weekend—but I still agree.
I guess I'll be one of the few to select no secondary access to this site, since I literally using nothing but this laptop.
And why can't we see the current results? I'm pretty sure the survey allow you to do that. Pretty please?
Glad we can help you out in knowing what we think needs work, and letting you know what we use most! Hope it helps!
I'm terrible at multiple choice. I hope I didn't fail :(

I find delectable irony or pun or whatever you call this amusement at how Chrome is one of the rather dependable browsers nowadays.
I will be even more amused him Chrome becomes the Dominant browser. Then we can say Spongebob was right.
I wonder how many other Nokiabrowser users he'll get
There's a problem here that prevents me from answering.
I browse and download from Fimfiction through my laptop, running Opera, and sometimes do so from my Android phone. But reading is entirely the other way around -- I download these stories on my laptop to put them on my phone, and sometimes read them on-site, on my laptop.
Done. I'm most frequently on a phone, so I have a question:
Is it possible to bypass the automatic redirect to the mobile version of this site when I'm on a phone? Like, with an option in the user settings? Or maybe ?nomobile=1 or something? As some of you already said here, the mobile version still needs A LOT of work, so it's pretty annoying to be forced to use it.
kthx
Done.
Mobile mobile mobile. No home internet. Only get my compy online at the library or a friend's house. Ever since the last major layout change bout eight months back the site has been unreadable on mobile devices, and probably half the reason I'm not as active as I was in the past.
done
Anything for you knighty~

Same on IE mobile and built in browser for my MLP app for Windows Phone
Ah, complicated question for me. You see I used to use my 3DS all the time, not sure what kind of browser it uses, but then after the last big update it became unusable so I used my PS3 to access the site, comment, rate and that kind of stuff, but to read long stuff I copied the number of the story to the address used to download HTML docs and used that on my 3DS to read there.
However just a few days ago I got a tablet, and I'm sure I'm going to use that to access the site from now on, so far it works flawlessly.
Mmm, I guess I'll answer tablet, but 3DS for second device, I can still use the HTML to read there in an emergency.
Hope the survey helps!
There are two problems with the android browser.
1) The dynamic width of the site hides some options like the search. You can replicate this problem on desktop my making the browser window very narrow. Zooming doesn't help and neither does 'request desktop site'.
2) The download buttons do not work correctly. If I download epub for example, I get something like download_epub.php. It turns out to be the actual file, just with the wrong filename and extension.
Done, hope this helps
My phone (Nokia N9) preforms quite well with the site except for a few things;
Firstly there is empty space to the right.
Secondly when searching, the search-bar for the tags goes "over" the search button making it hard to hit the button.
And lastly the follow button doesn't exist on the user pages. Or more like it exists, but is shrunk to near non-existence
Also, I find it odd that Chrome actually has a preset for the N9 in the dev-tools user-agent list. Just found it odd
Funny how I've never accessed Fimfic outside of my laptop.
Cool.
Spent an hour trying to answer these questions. Why do you make this so hard, Knighty? My brain can't do.
I feel very lonely that my mobile phone can't actual connect to the internet. But I am a person who doesn't see why a phone should do anything but phone (I don't even use text much).
Done. As handy as the cellphone version is for actually reading, it still leaves me lacking. All I wish is for a way to browse the desktop version of the site on my phone. Maybe like eqd where at the bottom is a "view web version" giving you a great bigger deal of ability and navigation options at the expense of speed of use.
I have been an information-providing cog in your noble machine, knighty. Godspeed.

Done
Me either!
I find that the Desktop version works VERY well on my iPad. No need for a tablet version.
Done. My IE (mobile) means Windows phone, since everyone forgets that they exist.
Done. Also PS3 on occasion, which isn't the most ideal way to surf, but good a backup as any I suppose considering it works, long as you don't try to use drop down menus. :p
