NOT DEAD · 7:29am Dec 22nd, 2014

What a cheery title! Happy holidays! It's true, though: I'm not dead. Only my inspiration is. I mourn it. Deeply. I really want to write things again, but my attempts over the past five months have been utterly futile. Some of you might understand the feeling of staring at a blinking cursor with no idea of what to type – I seriously hope you don't – but it's all too often a reality. To make matters worse, even when I manage to cobble something together, I question it endlessly. I'm in

It is a shame that you never got to post more here =/. I'd have loved to see another story of yours.

Tsunderebraze. :rainbowkiss:

1 year later, comments are on my page once again. Thanks Obama!

266799 Most certainly, in every sense of the word. In order of priority, I'm working on revising Tartarus Infernum for acceptance on Equestria Daily, then I'm writing a series of side stories/prequels to TI called the Chronicles of the Elite.
As soon as season 3 of the show finishes airing, I'll start drafting Tartarus Infernum's sequel! :pinkiehappy:

Are you working on a new Equestrian Elite fic? Cause if you are, then you'd be my hero.:twilightblush:

131003 That sounds great! I'll PM you my e-mail so you can send it to me whenever!

130993 I did read the first chapter to my roommate who is anti pony lol. He said it sounds good so far. That's what my boyfriend said too but I am inclined to think his opinion would be biased anyway. Hmm, how would you feel about me sending you chapters as I write them for feed back? :pinkiehappy:

130918 By all means, any part of my story that you wish to use (reference or otherwise) in your own, please, go for it! I like how your story is sounding, too, so I'm looking forward to checking it out!

As for pre-readers, well, I tried pretty hard to get a group together, but it didn't work out very well. Some of the people that were going to pre-read for me pretty much stopped existing (as in, never replied to any of my e-mails or PMs) and a few of the others completely lost interest and even told my (rather rudely) to stop e-mailing them about the story. In the end only one or two of the pre-reading team actually helped out, but all of them seemed to be a little too busy to keep up with my constant updates.

So, instead of pre-readers, I decided to instead bounce ideas off of my best friend. He actually isn't even a Brony, or a MLP fan in the slightest, but he recognized my love for writing and agreed to help me out. I'd hop on skype and bounce an idea off of him, he'd give me feedback about it, and sometimes I'd change it, sometimes I'd keep it. It actually kind of helped to have someone from outside the fanbase to evaluate my story as a story by itself and not as a fan fiction.

As for your situation, I think you mentioned that your boyfriend writes as well, so I'd definitely bounce ideas off of him. If you have any good friends from outside the fanbase, you might consider trying the same thing with them; it worked well for me, but that might have been because I got lucky haha. Trying to talk about pony-related things with people from outside the herd can really be a hit-or-miss kind of thing :twilightsheepish:

I just read your post launch reflections and I was happy to have been mentioned. I completely understand your pride in having made me cry too. I write myself. So when someone cried after reading one of my poems, I was happy that I had written something that made someone feel that strongly. Even though it's never a nice feeling exactly making someone cry.
As far as the way you released the story, it is rather unfortunate that you have not gotten the exposure that your wonderful story deserves. From a purely selfish point of view, however, I am glad you released it the way you did since otherwise I would not have read it. I hate waiting for chapters so when I browse I look for complete stories. I was thinking though about the merits of completing a story and then just releasing one chapter a week. Maybe on the same day of the week at the same time. That way you would still be spreading the exposure out over 20 weeks, but you would be saving your readers the possibility of an aneurism, since they would know when exactly they could expect the next installment. Plus most people are used to having to wait a week for the next episode of mlp anyway.
Having said all that I was wondering about pre reading and editing. Did you use someone to do that for you? I am working on a story of my own at the moment. If it is even a fraction as wonderful of yours I will feel like it has been a success. I would like to have someone take a look at it before I release it though. Also I will not release it until it is complete, though, I may release it in weekly installments. :pinkiehappy:
In my story, my OC is an aspiring writer looking to write the next great Equestrian novel. I was wondering, if I could make mention of your story in mine as one of the "books" that inspired her to want to write. With your permission I could mention it and put it as a link in the story? It will probably be awhile until I release it, however, since I am only on the second chapter right now.

I can't thank you enough for that! I really appreciate it! Even if it only brings a few more readers, I value each one, and I'm not just saying that; people taking time to read something I've written means a ton to me :D

Well, I can't promise anything, since I have only a small cult following, but I'll put a good word in my next blog post, and try to spread it by word of mouth.

127932 Right you are, sir, sad as it is. As a reader who cannot stand interruptions, the idea of releasing my story chapter-by-chapter simply made me gag. I took measures to ensure readers of my story wouldn't have to deal that, though it seems I've done so at my own expense...

It's truly a shame that I've had to trade prolonged exposure for a completed product.

I really wish there were features in the site that would help promote stories that are released in a state of completion; not only for the sake of my own story, but for the sake of anyone who would rather not put their readers though the torture of waiting weeks (sometimes months) for new content from an unfinished story :facehoof:

Of course this isn't to say that releasing chapter-by-chapter is completely without merit; it's just not something that would have worked for me :\

Unfortunate circumstances aside I certainly hope that whoever does read it (yourself included!) is able to enjoy it at their leisure!

I hate to say it, but you've made a mistake in posting your magnum opus all at once. It will drop off the front page by tomorrow morning, and hardly anyone will see it. It's the same thing with EqD. If you wanted to advertise properly, you should have released the chapters one at a time.

I'm not sure what can be done about this. Fimfic doesn't allow resubmissions of stories that have been taken down, so I don't know whether they allow resubmissions of chapters that have been pulled. If you PM the mods, they might show mercy and let you do so. But I don't know.

This looks impressive, so I hope it gets the publicity it deserves, one way or another.
