Glad we're all being polite and nice to each other though. What a nice place, this website. Also like, yeah, the thing about originality is that -- most things have been done already, but some people really like to use that as an excuse and then happily plagiarize shit, then try to argue that they have the moral highground. Call it a pet peeve o'mine, that, but I didn't mean to accuse you or nothin'. I'm just bad at words. Mleeeeeh.

I totally see what you mean about the whole Lovecraft thing. I'm not super familiar with the whole cosmic horror genre, so he's really the only name I know. But at the end of the day, that's my baggage, not yours. I'll definitely have to check out Giger though.

The whole 'ideas are derivative' thing wasn't really me saying "originality is impossible", but more of me saying that ideas that come out of nowhere tend to be influenced by the content we love most. IDK if that makes sense, but I can definitely agree that people who use the whole 'originality is impossible b/c ideas are derivative' excuse to avoid originality are pretty annoying.
