Twilight Sparkle is working on a new teleportation spell. This one is different because it allows her to travel distances much further than usual.
But, as no one suspects, she makes and error in her calculations, and she finds herself in a place that she does not recognize. The only sign of life are the corpses of trees.
It's cold, so very cold, and she is lonely. Will she ever find her way back?
Inspired by that awesome (but very sad) picture. Twilight Sparkle posted it on Ponyhoof. I haz been inspired. Wait...this is my first story without humans in it! Nice! I made it bigger, and cropped it down a bit, but nothing else, I swears it. I swears....on...on the precious! Yes, we swears.

This really isn't out of character, when you get right down to it: Twi's legendary over-cautiousness is easily trumped by her desire to show off something new and amazing. And now she gets to pay for it...

I wonder if this is a post-nuclear war Earth? Maybe communism made a comeback... anyways I hope to see more of this as well as other stories. Maybe Twilight will find out what happened here? My understanding of plot lines tell me that she will probably find out why. It is obviously Earth, I mean look she is right next to a car or truck! And made out of solid metal so I am guessing Military of some kind... oooh!

Interesting concept. It is hard to find a fic about a pony being lost for extended bouts of time and I liked it. If you know any other good fics about lost and alone ponies please let me know
It is why I like Quantum Castaways so much. 
I wished this would've been a lot longer of a fic. Like if Twilight met some human survivors or something. But still good none the less. Also that skeleton, the way you described it reminded me a lot of Resistance: Fall of Man and the aliens they fought. Could it possibly be the aliens or...something else?

Well, I drew inspiration from the Resistance aliens, but that's not what they were. Also, notice that there is no "human" tag. She was not on a human planet...
Also keep in mind that I will more than likely be writing a sequel.
Conclusion seems a bit rushed but it was cool none the less
