The Equestrian Empire will fall.
Those are the words of Starswirl Stabledon—the first and greatest psychohistorian. For he has applied his science to galactic society and, in doing so, has seen the truth. The mighty Empire, which has stood for over ten millennia, will regress, break up and succumb to chaos. Lacking unified leadership, twenty-five million equine worlds will turn against each other and unleash a dark age without foreseeable end.
Skepticism over Stabledon’s findings leads him to be targeted. His predictions have placed not only him, but also his large group of followers in jeopardy, setting them on a millennium-long path that will change the future forever—a path that must be traversed if harmony is to survive.

Note: This is a crossover that takes the characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and places them in the setting of Isaac Asimov's Foundation Series. The reader does not need prior knowledge of Foundation to understand this crossover.

Greetings. This may be a bit informal, and I might just be talking to no one in particular, but I want to use this first comment to address some issues I feel may come up.

Firstly, if you have read the Foundation Series before, you will notice/may have noticed that the sequence of events for "The Premonition" is similar to the sequence in the first act of the original Foundation, "The Psychohistorians". I intended for "The Premonition" to be written this way for nostalgia and familiarity, but I worry that my decision may be frowned upon by some Asimov fans. Although we are not very far into the story, I want to say that, in the following acts, I will be making every attempt possible to deviate from the original framework while not straying too far from it.

Secondly, this story has no relation whatsoever to the popular and more recent “SCP Foundation” universe, which I used to peruse for hours on end. Sorry to disappoint anyone who came in expecting that sort of crossover, but I am sure you will find such a fan fiction elsewhere.

That all being said, I hope you all enjoy the first act of what could become a very long story. If not, then I ask that you please take the time to leave feedback so I know what I can improve upon in the future.

Huh. I don't think I've seen a Foundation crossover with anything, ever. Even better, this looks rather good. Hope you continue it.

I'm impressed with how you not only attempted such a nearly insane concept-- and so far have done it well-- but actually kept much to the Good Doctor's writing tone. I'll be watching this.

I will definitely continue. I think Foundation is an underrated universe despite its popularity in the past, so the more people I can introduce it to, the better, I suppose.

It's nice to know that another fan regards this as an insane undertaking, too. Hopefully I keep to a consistent level of quality throughout. But if my writing falters, be sure to let me know so I don't continue to slip.

I think I like you.

I'm a massive fan of Asimov's work. Good job.

Holy crap. You must have written this out ahead, you'd have to be some sort of deity or time-traveler not to. How much farther?

Granted, the quality of the writing makes me slightly more inclined than normal to believe the deity explanation, but still.

The Premonition has been sitting in the textual void I call Google Docs for quite some time now. To give you an idea, I had the first draft of Act 1 reviewed on Ponychan's /fic/ board in July of last year. It was only after my semester finished in the middle of December that I finally made time to scrutinize the entire draft and edit the prevalent mechanical flaws that Golden Vision, the reviewer, pointed out.

I agree with Raven. I think I like you.

Not bad at all. Not bad at all...

Is it me or is this an ASIMOV-VERSE FIC?!?

Given the span of time that has passed since this was last updated, I'm guessing that work has either stalled or ceased. That... is a real shame. It's rare (extraordinarily so) to run across anything related to Foundation these days, and I'm looking forward to reading this, even if it's destined to remain incomplete.

Such a shame that this is left quiet, i was looking forward to the arc of the Encyclopedists in pony form.
